calazn Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 I bid 120 for a 4*+ in OQW and got a counteroffer of $210 for 6 nights...What should I do?
Blueskies Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 What are the conventional prices for the hotels in the area at this time? Have you checked Hotwire prices? Have you looked at the previous wins in this area around this time (if there are any)? You have a lot of time. It is normal practise for the counter offer to be much higher than the acceptable price so you could try raising your bid by $10 a day if your max bid is beyond your current bid.Good luck.
calazn Posted July 2, 2006 Author Report Posted July 2, 2006 Thanks for the tip.I was able to secure 6 nights 12/28 - 1/3 at Hotel Scribe for $190/night.Bid $170, rejected...counter offer to add $25 to my bid, which would have been $195/night.Declined, and raised bid to $180, rejected, $185, rejected, $188, rejected...and finally accepted at $190/night.No 4*+ hotel is under $300 for this time. So, I'm happy with my bid.Used savingsbarn!
