biddingforhotel Posted July 1, 2006 Report Posted July 1, 2006 bid 4* at $45, rejected, rebid on $47, got it ...
biddingforhotel Posted July 4, 2006 Author Report Posted July 4, 2006 Wow!! This is really great hotel!!! so shine so nice!! I would come back soon ...
biddingforhotel Posted July 6, 2006 Author Report Posted July 6, 2006 You went to Niagra Falls recently, if you return, you may want to stop in Corning and see the Corning Musuem of Glass. Also, you should not miss the Watkins Glen State Park while you are going up to Niagra...Enjoy!Yes, I took I-390 back from Niagara Falls as the route is very beautiful!!! I guess that's the reason I bid hotel at Rochester so I got two days to visit Niagara Falls. Last time I hit storm in Niagra falls when stay there...The route has endless gorgeous view that I always enjoyed. I did visit Corning Museum of Glass as I always visit the place when I went to Niagara Falls. The town has been changed a lot, new road construction ...etc. I think the Rt 17 will become future Fwy 86 ... Last time I even stayed at Staybridge there next to the museum, but this time I was not able to get anything in Corning which has only 2.5* hotel. I will continue to try in the near future ...What it really amazed me is the Elmira, so many restaurants, stores, Walmart, Big-K, and we end up had a rest at the Barnes and Noble at this I-17 x52 place that is right next to Old Country Buffet!!! I found this is the best rest area like Waterbury CT on I-84 that has similar set up ...As to Watkins Glen State Park, I was there many years ago, it is so nice the place... It worth to revisit. As a matter of fact, in the Barnes & Noble at Elmira, it has a pictorial book talking about Finger Lakes, and it also mentioned this Watkins Glen State Park... The book of couse also gave lots of huge pictures about Cornell University that we just visited. I found it great that Cornell Univ has the best Hotel major and it even has a on campus university hotel. Don't know if PL has this hotel, I would like to stay there for a day or two. I visit three of 17 libraries of Cornell, and I found some interesting things...
dahammer Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Corning has the 3* Radisson, but I have never been succesfull bidding in this zone even though there are 3 rebid opportunities. The 2.5* Country Inn and Suites has been reported but don't expect to get any bargains in this area, the difference between conventional rates and Priceline rates is probably about 25% or less. The same goes for Ithaca, home of Cornell. The highest rated hotel is 2.5* which is probably the Courtyard or the Holiday Inn. I would not bid at the 2* level as you could wind up with a Comfort Inn, Ramada or Best Western. My bidding is usually for the same day, so you may have success if you start bidding earlier.
