calazn Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 12/23 - 12/28 (5 nights - FIRM)2 acceptable zones: [Vatican City] or [Central Rome].For a 5* in [Central Rome], my max is $120.For a 4* in [Vatican City] or [Central Rome], my max is $100.It'll be a Saturday check-in, would that be a problem?Again, thanks for all your help!
WillTravel Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 What's more likely to be a problem are the Christmas holiday dates. Have you checked Hotwire for your dates?Does location matter to you? I much preferred to stay in the center of Rome, rather than to get one of the hotels that Priceline is likely to provide.Either way, 5* for $120 is most improbable.
calazn Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 I can stay either in Central Rome or Vatican City.I have checked HotWire and a 4* in Central Rome is about $205 while a 4* in Vatican City runs around $248 for 12/23 - 12/28.If $120 for a 5* is unreasonable, I can do w/out it. So, I can now increase my max to $110 for a 4*.
calazn Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 I bid $115 4* Vatican City and was rejected...but offered $166/room/night 4* Vatican City...Is it a good deal? Should I take it?
calazn Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 hmmm...I guess it isn't. I can book on Starhotel Michelangelo (4* Vatican City) 12/23 - 12/28 for $159.58.
calazn Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 Bid Rome Central at $120 for a 4* and got it right away at the Golden Tulip Mecenate Palace Hotel.5 nights 12/23 - 12/28, total came out to be $680.Hotel website's total is about $770. I save about $90. Did I overbid? Should my first bid have been lower? It was difficult to guess since there aren't a lot of winning bids posted for Rome. I guess I should have checked out hotel's rack rate before bidding. I was just desperate :) but still it isn't a terrible bid.
thereuare Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I was just desperate Why?!?! Your stay was nearly 6 months away... you had plenty of time to wait for answers to your questions and try again if your bidding today was not successful. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
