mommystop Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 We are driving through Vegas this weekend, and thought we'd stay with the kids (Hoover dam, playing etc, but not really gambling). We'll be staying Friday and Sat, 6/23-6/25. I currently have the Renaissance booked directly through their site for $99 a night and can cancel through Wed.Here's what Hotwire is offering.4* North Strip Casino, rest, pool, fitness, spa, high speed, golf, tennis, business center for $184 (I think it's the Aladdin?)3* North Strip Casino, rest, pool, fitness, spa, high speed, gold, tennis, bus center $102 (Riviera?)4* South Strip Casino, rest, pool, fitness, spa, golf, bus center $191 (New York?)3* South Strip Customer favorite, Casino, rest, pool, fitness, spa, golf, tennis $125 (Excalibur?)Also, I already tried Priceline through Savings Barn, bid $115 and was offered $162 for a 4*. Declined used free re-bid but no luck.Having never been to Vegas, and considering I will have four children under 12 with me, where do you suggest. My husband thought the kids wouldn enjoy seeing the sights on the strip, but I was thinking maybe Circus, Circus? Their website is $119 directly for a tower room. We won't be gambling really so I also considered the Alexis Park for $88 on Easy Click travel. We do plan on doing the amusement park at Circus circus and Hoover dam while we're there. Having never been to Vegas, is it worth it to pay more to be on the strip? Also, I was wondering if I would have better luck trying hotwire or priceline after wed? Thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Are there six of you? How many rooms are planning on? Based upon your reservation and searches above, are you declaring all six (if this number is correct) in the room? mommystop Posted June 20, 2006 Author Report Posted June 20, 2006 No. We do the family bed at home anyways. My 3 year old and 1 year old will sleep in a queen with me. My 5 year old with my husband and my 11 year old on the ground. We're truly on the budget vacation :) We're actually driving from California to Texas and just taking a short break to Vegas even though it's out of the way. The Alexis Park was looking appealing because of the extra couch (I am assuming is a pullout), but I am leaning to towards Circus Circus right now. I just don't know what to expect as we've never been.
thereuare Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 If my search is correct, the Excalibur will run $129/nite and the Circus Circus will run $110/nite?If that is correct, i would book the Exaclibur as (imo) it's worth the extra $20/nite... the location is much better, it's a better hotel, and there is TONS more to see and do right outside your door. I'd also book the Excalibur direct as it's cheaper than what you believe to be the Excalibur above as there is no booking fee and you also have the ability to request your bed configuration directly from the booking page.Whichever you decide, please use the links in this thread to begin your booking as we are now affiliates of both (since the MGM Grand took over both properties).Let us know what you decide to do or if we can be of further help. dahammer Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 mommystop, a few years ago, we bought an inexpensive inflatable twin mattress (Target has them for $19 plus the cost of the inflator this week). These usually come with a nylon bag that looks like a backpack. Bringing our own saves us from calling down to the front desk and asking for a rollaway. We don't leave home without it :)
mommystop Posted June 20, 2006 Author Report Posted June 20, 2006 We bring our own foam matress that we have in the back of the excursion for those of us who want to sleep on a long drive :) Hotel has looked at us funny when we drag our own foam up, but it's memory foam so I just smile and say I have a bad back :) Thanks for the note though. I think I will wait until Wed and try Priceline one more time before I book the Excalibur. So what is there exactly to do there? I was thinking it would bee the pool and the Cirucs Curcus amusement park. Is there a lot more for children to see and do? If so, what should we definitely get done? Thanks for all your help. I love this site!
thereuare Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 An old thread so times are probably off, but most of the 'things' are still available:Cheap and Free in Las Vegas Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mommystop Posted June 21, 2006 Author Report Posted June 21, 2006 Looks like the Aladdin is down to $149 per night on Hotwire. Also, Riviera is down to $90/night on Hotwire, and they have a new property 4* South Strip Showing Resort, Casino, Restuarant, Pool, Fitness, Spa, Sight speed, Golf, Tennis, and Business Center. Do you think it's the Luxor? It seem like the only possibility from the list and what I can see by matching up amentities. Of these properties, which one do you think I should stick with? I would say that the pool, close to things, and the WOW factor for the kids are the most important at this point. I will put the total with tax and fees...Renaissance (Directly booked) $215.82Aladdin (Hotwire) $327.30Riviera (Hotwire) $202.27Luxor(?) (Hotwire) $389.61Circus Circus (Direct Skyrise Tower Room) $263.49Thanks again. By the way, great free to do list. I printed it out and will take it with us. If someone knows an update to the list, that would be GREATLY appreciated. THanks
thereuare Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Why is the Excalibur excluded from your list? I thought that was the best price/value/location of the choices. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tweekerz Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 I would never wish upon anyone to book a room at Circus Circus. Yeah, the circus area is in the hotel... but when looking the guest list.... it is not the group of people I would want around my kids (if I had any) around. There are more children old enuff to not be supervised, rather than kids with their parents. There are so many other hotels to choose from. CC is a 20 minute walk or a monorail ride away from most Strip hotels.
