BeckyBC03 Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 I am looking to book 2 hotel rooms for 7 people September 22-24. I am not sure what the best way to go about doing this is. We have located Paris for an average of $200/night which doesn't seem too bad but I would LOVE to find cheaper since the plane tickets are going to be pricey. I believe Hotwire has Paris for $179 as well. What would you advise? Should I even bother with Priceline or should I stick with booking directly through the hotel's website? Is this too early to find a really good deal or promotion? Thanks
thereuare Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 For the rate above are you declaring 4 people in one room and 3 people in the other? Most Vegas hotels are now charging <heavily> for more than double occupancy in a room... usually from $15-$30/pp over two. So this can easily add $30-$60 to the cost of a room.Let us know how many people you're searching for so that we can make an apples-to-apples comparison and will try to see if a better deal can be had. Is the $200/nite above include taxes or is that room rate only? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
BeckyBC03 Posted June 22, 2006 Author Report Posted June 22, 2006 No i wasn't declaring the 4 people in one room and 3 in the other room. I booked it as 2 people in each room. The $200 rate was before taxes. I believe the total came out to around $890.
thereuare Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 I think that's a pretty good rate for the Paris and i don't see too much (at 4* or higher) that will currently beat that. Hotwire does have a 4* for $180/nite but you'll then be very close to your Paris rate and i wouldn't recommend going opaque to save $10 on a $200 room. Rates do change very fast in Vegas and i would suggest continuing to search between now and your stay. However, if you are going to settle for paying $200, i would try to do better with a 5* on Priceline.Regardless of how you book, are you prepared to deal with it if you book for double occupancy and you only get a room with one bed?If you are willing to go down in quality in order to save money, you could book the Imperial Palace thru Quikbook for $122/nite (and you can properly declare everyone in the rooms). It is lower rated than the Paris but has an excellent location on the strip.Actually just checked their website and you can book a standard room direct for $104/nite (deluxe is $123/nite) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
BeckyBC03 Posted June 23, 2006 Author Report Posted June 23, 2006 Thank you for looking at that for me! I saw the $180/night on hotwire too but you are right and it is not worth saving that little (especially divided by 7 people). I will check out those other hotels you mentioned too. We booked directly through Paris's website and we requested rooms with 2 double beds. I know that is not guaranteed but I figured I would just call them a week or two before we come and make sure that we are put in a room with 2 beds. I assume that more people probably want rooms with a king bed anyway. I think we are just going to keep our fingers crossed and hope it works out! I will keep looking between now and then since we have a lot of time and see if any other deals come up. I keep you posted.
