samson7256 Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 I currently have a reservation at the Westin for 1 night on 6/10/06 using Starpoints. I"m tempted though to save my 10,000 pts and take a 4 star that hotwire is showing for $121 but I'm having trouble figuring out which hotel it is since the only 4 star your list is showing is the Westin but the ammenities listed for the opaque 4 star are the following and the Westin doesn't have a pool.Restaurant(s)Pool(s)Fitness CenterSpa ServicesHigh-speed Internet AccessBusiness Center
samson7256 Posted June 8, 2006 Author Report Posted June 8, 2006 I'm starting to think the 4* being offered is the Lowes.Which I don't think is comparable to the Westin so I guess I'll probably just stick with my existing reservation.
dahammer Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 samson, this is a delimma that I'm often faced with: burn off some hotel points or pay for a hotel. However, you are only looking at a 4* Hotwire product at $121. Some folks have recently been successsful using Priceline to win the Hyatt for your dates of travel at $54-56. This is not a guarantee, but if you can accept a little risk, your reward might be great and you can bank the points. :)
samson7256 Posted June 8, 2006 Author Report Posted June 8, 2006 I think you're right about the Hyatt...I noticed that someone recently got it for $70 when the Hyatt's rate was $209 which is exactly the rate they are showing for my stay of 6/10/06...but since I'm only going to be in the city for 1 night and I'd like to be centrally located, I'm not really willing to stay at Penn's Landing.
samson7256 Posted June 9, 2006 Author Report Posted June 9, 2006 Spoke to my wife and she felt like we were better off saving the points...went ahead w/ the hotwire offer and it was indeed the Lowe's hotel. Thanks to the site for making it pretty much a sure thing.
