awesomemama
Anyone ever stay in Binghamton NY? What hotels come up--either on priceline or howire? Link to comment
dahammer
Binghamton is one of those small markets that does not offer the "deals" such as the one you just reported in Secaucus (way to go!! :) ) but I have stayed twice at the LaQunita Hotel in nearby Johnson City, about 10 Minutes west of Binghamton. This is a 2* property and was recently re-habbed, its every bit as good as the Hampton Inn across the street. The hotel does not have a pool, but the front desk will give you a pass to be admitted to a local health club that has a pool. I won this recently for $50, but you may want to start a little less. Understand that this is the only 2* hotel that has so far been reported in the area. In the Vestal zone, the highest rating is 2.5* and there is a Residence Inn and a Courtyard, but these have not been reported to this board as wins. Good Luck. Link to comment
FBNY
I work in Binghamton and have done events at the Holiday Inn - Arena and the Binghamton Regency and they are decent places to stay in dontown Binghamton.Priceline comes up with the usual Super 8, Holiday Inn, Best Western class of hotels in the area and they are what you would expect. Your desired location may play a large role in your choice because they are fairly spread out.As the other poster mentioned, in these smaller markets you may not get that much of a deal so you may wish to simply book on Expedia.Let me know if you have any other questions. awesomemama
Okay, you both have confirmed what I suspected about the area. Thanks. The one night that I "must" stay in Binghamton I think we'll just use my aunt's couch and floor. Another night I am going to need a room somewhere between Corning and Binghamton (or even scranton pa, but that will be a bit of a long drive that day if we go that far). Im not finding any great deals anywhere in that area (yes, I'm sure because of the smaller market....). I was thinking about booking the country inn suites in horseheads. Why? who knows! :) Can you tell me, what is the best place to stay in that area since I will probably end up booking directly? Thanks! The advice I am getting here is making my planning so much easier! Link to comment
thereuare
I don't know the area, but if you do go with the Country Inn and Suites, we are affiliates as per our support page Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
dahammer
what are your dates of travel, budget?the Hilton Garden Inn Elmira/Corning is fairly new and can be booked on the Travel Links to Help Support BetterBiddingif you have time, you might want to check out Watkins Glen State Park Link to comment
awesomemama
Sorry, I should have provided that information. The first night in the area would be the corning-ish. June 19th, 1 night. Hoping to spend under $100.Also, will be in Binghamton Jun 25th for 1 night. Same budget. Thanks, the state park looks beautiful, I'll have to try to fit that in our plans! Link to comment
dahammer
that's a good budget for this area, you could stay at the Holiday Inn in Painted Post/Corning for about $80 or the Country Inn and Suites in Big Flats for about $85. Either property may be booked through the Travel Links to Help Support BetterBidding. The Hilton is about $140 for your dates and not worth the extra $$. I have not been successful bidding in this area and my only "win" was the 2* Best Western on the Green which was a disaster. For your Binghamton Stay, you could probably get the recenlty remodeled 2* LaQuinta Inn located in the Johnson City zone for a bid of $50 or so. If you book directly, the rooms in the Binghamton Holiday Inn Arena are really small, just OK for one, but for two or more, it could be tight. I'd go with the Best Western Regency Hotel in Binghamton and its a decent hotel, rooms are fairly big. If you go to Watkins Glen State Park, the hike up the glen is fantastic, worth the detour. TravelGuy
For Binghampton you may want to consider The Grand Royale. Looks like an interesting historic hotel. They have an Internet User rate of $72 for 6/25 including continental breakfast, free use of the local Y and free cookies! Wow! :) Rated #2 on Tripadvisor. Link to comment
Phaelon56
I stayed overnight recently inthe Scranton area unexpectedly. Long drive back to NY state from NC and decided to stop late at night. Tried the Country Inn and Suites which was sold out but judging by the common areas it appears to be very nice indeed.I ended up at a place across the street - the "Countryside Inn". Similar in name only but at $50 or $55 per night it was a bed and it was clean enough. Link to comment
