Priceline Hotel: 3* Somerset-Brunswick (Clinton-Lebanon) Holiday Inn Select

Tried $37 for 2.5 stars for either Courtyard Somerset ($155 on website) or Marriott Somerset ($189 on website) in Somerset-Piscataway. Failed. Added Bridgewater-Somerville and bumped to $40. Failed. Will try again after 24 hrs wait. Rather not have to drive from Clinton this week (stop'n'go in morning hrs, 30 mins).

BTW, Sheraton 4 Points in Somerset-Piscataway is apparently now a Radisson property. Don't know if it is a PL listing. Should comment as such on our pinned list.

You are driving with the morning commuters coming in from Pennsylvania into NJ...if you bid $37 for Sunday night you should have success at the Marriott Somerset. You will need to increase to $45 to get this hotel during the week, the 2.5* Courtyard has high occupancy during the week and I doubt this will be offered at that low price through Priceline. Also, since you are staying the week, you have many rebid opportunites by changing the dates of your stay, this could result in changing hotels though. Have you considered the Edison zone?

Waited 24 hrs, retried $43 for 2.5 stars for either Courtyard Somerset or Marriott Somerset in Somerset-Piscataway. Failed. Added Bridgewater-Somerville and bumped to $46. Failed. Looks like high occupancy alright.

Edison a bit too far (flying in and out of ABE), best location is Bridgewater, but it has more expensive PL rates. Guess I'll try splitting stay dates.

Tried Basking Ridge 2.5* at $48. Failed.

Re-started bidding, trying splitting bid over the week. Bid $48 for 3 nights (5/23-5/26) for Somerset-Piscataway. Failed. Added Bridgewater-Somerville and bumped to $51. Failed. Confirmed high occupancy (Marriott Somerset site shows no availability for that 3 night stay).

Gave up on the area - too rich. Won 3* room in Clinton-Lebanon zone for $39, just have to drive longer or leave earlier in mornings. :) See separate post for bids.

Bid $37 for the 5 nights at 2.5* level hoping to get either 3* Holiday Inn Select Clinton ($123 on website) or 2.5* Courtyard Lebanon ($154). Not accepted.

Bid $39 adding Somerset-Piscataway which I had separately bid earlier and had failed with bidding up to $51.

Accepted by Holiday Inn Select Clinton. I stayed there several weeks ago (also for $39) and liked it except for morning commute east on I-78 to Somerville. Might try highway 22 or leave earlier in morning.

There is a 2* in zone I would have tried if not accepted. Could be Hampton Inn ($119 on website).

Picked up weekly PL car rental economy for $19/day in ABE.

In the Somerset zone, this could be the Ramada, not a bad property, just not very good for a 5 day trip.

Good point - I remember seeing reviews on Ramada Somerset. One would need to specify (at the start) only the Clinton-Lebanon zone option for exclusive shot at getting the Hampton Inn Clinton. I don't see any other chain hotels in Clinton that might be 2*.
