i'm trying to find a room in the Monaco or allegro. maybe W would also be O.K. No hiltons or the such but more of a arty boutique feel

Best chances would be to do a Hotwire search for your dates and compare what is offered to what in the hotel list referenced above. Hopefully you'll find an exact match for a hotel you want, but keep in mind there are still no guarantees as you're still buying an opaque product, and there could be multiple hotels with the same amenities.

Remember, the deep discounts available thru the opaque suppliers is for guests that are flexible in their plans or not wanting a specific hotel.
