BeckyBC03
I'm looking for a 4* hotel in NYC for May 26-28. We would be willing to go 27-29th if you think we could get a much better deal. We are willing to stay in Midtown East, Midtown West, or Upper Midtown/Central Park South. I currently have a backup reservation at Millenium Broadway. I got a club room for $219/night there but looking to see if it is possible to get a better deal. Please advise me on a good strategy to use. Also, I need a hotel that allows small pets (I have a 3lb dog). Is there anyway to ensure this? Although...I haven't come across a NYC hotel yet that doesn't allow small dogs. Thanks for your help!! thereuare
I don't think you can ensure a "dog friendly" property. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
BeckyBC03
Is there any way to bid on only hotels that allow pets? Link to comment
thereuare
No.If you wanted to risk it you could try to identify a property on Hotwire, make sure that it is dog friendly, and then make that purchase... but there would still be a risk in that you'd need to make sure you identified the hotel correctly. BeckyBC03
Thanks for your help. I might try that but it looks as though on Hotwire I can't really find a better deal than the Millenium Broadway for $219/night for a club room (includes breakfast, drinks, etc.). I think that the hotel is 3.5 stars on Hotwire. I will avoid priceline then. Thanks! Link to comment
BeckyBC03
I have a backup for my dog if I end up with a pet "unfriendly" hotel. Could you please recommend a priceline strategy for me now? Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
What is your maximum bid? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
BeckyBC03
Well like I said we got the Millenium Broadway for $219/night in a club room which included extras so I would only want to forego that for a better deal. If we couldn't do 4* for $200 on priceline we will probably just stay with what we have confirmed. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
I'm fairly confident that you can beat your back-up reservation, but one last question... how important is your budget?I think you could save a bit more if you are willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, but this would involve the likely scenario of changing hotels during your stay, something you may not want to do for a 2 nite stay (some would do it to save $10... others wouldn't do it to save $100)Let us know and we'll then roll up and sleeves and suggest a strategy. BeckyBC03
Budget is not really THAT important. We would only be willing to split our bid for a substantial savings. If we get a pet friendly hotel it would definitely not be worth the hassle unless we could save $50 or more. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
I don't think the savings of splitting your bid would be enough to make it worth your while. You have two re-bid zones avialable when bidding 4* in NYC. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTW...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zoen...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zoen...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zoen...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zoen...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zoen...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zoen...Bid $155.Try the above for your first set of dates (not sure of your success or not) and if rejected try your second set of dates (which i think has a slightly better chance... if you want you can even lower each bid by $10 for your second set of dates).Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. BeckyBC03
Thank you for your strategy. It turns out that our backup for the dog fell through and therefore I could not try priceline. We are sticking with our backup at the Millenium Brodway for Friday and Saturday night. We would like to stay Sunday too and we are trying to identify the hotels through hotwire in order to get a pet friendly one. I posted under the hotwire thread because I think the 4 star times square that we found might be the westin and they are pet friendly. Has this been downgraded to 4 stars? Thanks Link to comment
