PDB_905 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I would like to stay anywhere between Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach from April 24-28. (Sorry for the short notice but I just discovered this board). All I really need is a good clean room in a safe location. Very flexible on location, the closer to Boca Raton the better. Budget is the key. I

PDB_905 Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 Excellent. Thanks. Wow, you must get tired of getting asked those same questions. Thanks for your patience. This site is fantastic. I've read the post about re-bidding strategy, and it makes perfect sense. Will definitely implement. If anyone has any ideas about Boca/Lauderdale/West Palm, I'd appreciate it.
thereuare Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Since your location preference covers such a large area, which areas have found hotels at ~$80/nite on the web? Also, what is the minimum star rating that you are willing to accept? PDB_905 Posted April 19, 2006 Author Report Posted April 19, 2006 Searching on Travelocity"]Travelocity yielded hotels in both "Ft. Lauderdale Area" and "Boca Raton Area" starting at around $60. But you have to go up to around $80 before you start seeing any halfway decent traveler reviews. WPB is more expensive. From my experience, I figure with enough homework I could find something online in the 70-80 range that would be acceptable. But would like to do better if possible.Looking at the list of hotels, there might be a few stinkers in the 2* range, but the majority of them look like they would be OK or better than OK. So let's say 2* minimum for now.
PDB_905 Posted April 19, 2006 Author Report Posted April 19, 2006 A little more specifics about some of what I found on Travelocity"]Travelocity--La Quinta Coral Springs $79Sleep Inn and Suites Ft. Lauderdale Intl Airport $85La Quinta Deerfield Beach $89Hope that helps

PDB_905 Posted April 19, 2006 Author Report Posted April 19, 2006 After taking a little longer look at the 2* hotels, I decided to start bidding on 2.5's and 3's. Started each attempt on Savingsbarn. I started the bidding at $38 and went through each area of Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale. Rejected on all. Went back to Boca and added Deerfield Beach and increased to $41. No go.I decided to go a little farther north and try a 3* in Palm Beach Gardens, an area I'm somewhat familiar with. Bid $43 for a 3*. Accepted. Doubletree Hotel Palm Beach Gardens.Travelocity"]Travelocity lists it at $199 for those dates, Hotels.com says no rooms are available but the lowest rate is $119, and the Doubletree website says no rooms are available for those dates. Was pleased to see one very strong review for the Doubletree on the site.
