goldspike Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Used Hotwire to book the Tropicana in Vegas. Check in 4/28 and check out 5/2. Rate $52.Listed as a 3-star with these amenities: resort, casino, restaurants, pools, fitness center, spa services, golf nearby and business center. My question is: Will I be assigned a "garden room" or a room in one of the Trop's towers?
GM Mike Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Don't know the answer to that but did you see the rates the Tropicana's charging directly for your nights???4/28 $219.95 :) 4/29 $229.95 :) 4/30 $49.955/1 $59.95
goldspike Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 I did indeed see those direct rates from the Trop. Ouch! I obvioulsy got a great deal through Hotwire, which leads me to beleive I'll be assigned to a "garden," which from most accounts (i.e. Tripadvisor) are similar to dumpy old roadside motels.
thereuare Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding!Yeah, the "garden rooms" are somewhat motel-like (or a bad holiday inn... cheap floral bed spreads, etc) and i would assume that is what you'll be assigned, although i don't know for certain. If the hotel is not sold-out the garden rooms can usually be upgraded for $10-$15/nite, which is the usual price difference between the two room classes and in my opinion is worth the extra expense. If an upgrade is not available, try to get a room facing the pool instread of the parking lot :) Even if an upgrade is not avaiable for the first two nites of your stay, i would approach the front desk after the first two nites (when based upon the rates above occupancy levels drop substantially) and tell them "I know you've been busy for the last two nites which is why i didnt' ask earlier, but i haven't been very happy with my room for the last two nites... any chance i can get an upgrade for the remaining two nites of my stay?" (and if you get the right person this may be done complimentary)Enjoy your stay and good luck in Vegas. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
goldspike Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 Wow, thereuare! I couldn't have asked for a nicer welcome to Betterbidding! Thanks for all the great advice. I'll let you know how everything turns out after I get back to Chicago (may take a couple days to get over the inevitable hangover!).
