Priceline Hotel: 3* Newark (Secaucus-North Bergen) Wyndham Meadowlands Suites

started my same day bid through Savingsbarn.com for the Secaucus area at the 3* level, first bid was $50. Added rebid zones and also added Secaucus-Meadowlands, rejected up to $65. I didn't want to add the Jersey City zone with the possibility of getting the Hyatt and having to add $35 for parking and High Speed Internet. Before dropping down to the 2.5* level, I increased the bid to $75, success!

This is the former Prime Suites located in Harmon Meadows and it looks like the only changes to the hotel was a new sign out front, a few more WiFi antennas, and better housekeeping. A true two room suite with a great work area, with sofa and a TV in each room, small 'frig and microwave. But, unlike Embassy Suites, there is no door between rooms. When I presented my Wyndham By Request card, the desk clerk did ask if I wanted "my requests" sent up to my room, but since its been so long that I actually stayed at a Wyndham property at the rack rate, I forget what "my requests" were. All I really want is free parking and free HS internet, both standard at this property. However, the clerk did give a coupon for a free cocktail in the lounge, an offer that I could not refuse. :)

The NJ Transit bus to NYC still stops right out front, so as the weather improves, and rates in the city start to climb, this remains a good alternative.
