globetrotter Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I'm having a really hard time pinning down a 5* room in Vegas for 4/8-4/10. PL lists the room for 4/8 at 299 and 4/9 at 199, but in my bidding I have reached 140 and got nothing but a 24 hour wait. I've tried splitting up the days and only bidding on the second got rejected for bidding as high as 140. I have noticed that the PL prices have dropped down for the above nights from about 324.Does time of day matter on hotel bidding?Do prices decrease as it gets closer to the date?If anyone else comes up with anything for that weekend, please assist with posting your strategy.Brilliant site!!

globetrotter Posted March 31, 2006 Author Report Posted March 31, 2006 What exactly are my re-bid zones for Vegas if I am trying to stay on the strip? Is it: North Las VegasHenderson Lake..Boulder StripPlease correct me if I am wrong. Will attempt 4*, going through www.savingsbarn.com and will post my results. Thanks.
dahammer Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 We could tell you, but then it would be too easy!! :) Sometimes rebidding zones change, so it is better to check each rebidding zone before you make a new bid. It is all discussed in this thread:Priceline Re Bidding ExplainedSo, at the 5* level, what are the rebidding zones?
thereuare Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 If you're a little lost after reading the above link, list each zone in the area and the highest star rating offered within each zone. To find out the highest star rating within each zone, follow this technique as posted in Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. globetrotter Posted April 5, 2006 Author Report Posted April 5, 2006 Split my bid and got Sunday 4/9 4* Westin for $95 +tax. The Westin website has it for $159. Need to figure out Saturday night now.
thereuare Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Glad to see you at least got part of this settled (although the Saturday nite is likely to be the more difficult). Was $95 your first bid in the zone or were you rejected at lower levels previously? (if previous bids, do you recall the amount of your highest rejected bid prior to this acceptance)Please start a NEW TOPIC for the balance of your stay. Thanks! globetrotter Posted April 7, 2006 Author Report Posted April 7, 2006 My first bid was $85 and it came back with a $22 counter offer so, I bumped it up 10 to 95 and got the room. My Saturday flight to Vegas is full...trying to see if i can get bumped off of it and not have to worry about a room unitl Sunday (this is just one stop in a longer vacation and we are winging it).. Thanks to your help and guidance that you offered myself and others, I have learned.
