bdb Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Looking for 5 star for the 2 nights.Currently Venetian lists 449 for Friday and 349 for Sat.I'd be looking for 2 rooms, can you bid for 2 rooms using priceline? does that harm the bid?Would be prepared to go to 240ish for the rooms. Thanks
thereuare Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 With rates that high at the Venetian we usually don't see much/any discount thru the opaque suppliers, so i'm doubtful you're maximum bid will be enough. If you'd like to give it a try, you have seven re-bids available at the 5* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $240.Feel free to ask any questions you may have.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. bdb Posted March 16, 2006 Author Report Posted March 16, 2006 Thanks thereuareI went up as far as $250 and no joy.does the fact that I'm bidding for 2 rooms have an impact? Should I be splitting the 2 dates, given the diff in cost btw fri and sat?thanksrobert
Blueskies Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Is it 2 rooms for the same family? If so you may want to consider booking (directly) the 2Q rooms which also has a sofa bed. It may work out around the same price. Worth checking. I think you will find a link on the support betterbidding list.Blueskies
bdb Posted March 16, 2006 Author Report Posted March 16, 2006 It's 2 couples, I don't think we are that close yet to share a room :)
thereuare Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 You can try SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, but i doubt it will have much of an impact given current rates and your maximum bid. If you do happen to find success, realize that there is an even greater chance than usual that you'll have to change hotels, as winning a sole Saturday nite check-in at the Venetian will be extremely difficult. As well, since many Vegas hotels won't accept a Saturday check-in, i'd make sure you have a back-up plan for that Saturday nite before splitting.Let us know if you try for a 5* via splitting your bid or if you'd rather focus on a 4*. bdb Posted March 17, 2006 Author Report Posted March 17, 2006 I'm thinking its time to start over and go 4*. What would you suggest, obviously I'd like to drop way down with the price. :) and what is the time frame for rebid? And it has to be on the strip..thanks for the help this site is awesome.
bdb Posted March 17, 2006 Author Report Posted March 17, 2006 I tried again this am, with $200 for 5* LV Strip, and it came back and offered me $376/night.
thereuare Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 What is your maximum bid for the 4* level? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bdb Posted March 17, 2006 Author Report Posted March 17, 2006 I'd prefer to keep it to around 130-140 price range.thanks
thereuare Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.$140 may be tough, but i would bid as follows:Select 4* Strip...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Strip and re-bid zone2...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. bdb Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 thanks thereuare, as expected it kind of worked...I got The Westin Casuarina Las Vegas for $135 which I am pleased with, It would have been nicer to be on the strip, but the price can't be beat, and the westin beds are awesome..
