thereuare Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding! What is your maximum bid for this stay? Are you also willing to include the UM/CPS zone as that is usually 'ok' for the typical visitor. Are you familiar with Priceline Re-Bidding Explained?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly before your next round of bidding. luceeTX Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 I am open to anything, really... This is our first time to NY and we don't care so much about the hotel - we just want a great location and will be out doing stuff most of the day!I reserved a refundable room at the Millennium Broadway (found a rate of 179 on Travelzoo). I am still wondering if I can do better, though. This is our honeymoon and we are on a budget! Thanks so much.
luceeTX Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 sorry, i did not post before...my max bid would be what we are paying for the millenium broadway (200/night including tax!)
thereuare Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 What about re-biddding... are you familiar with it?Did you use any re-bid zones in your previous bidding or did you only include MTE and MTW in your search? thereuare Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 You have two re-bid zones available at the 4* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. After 24 hours from your previous bid i would proceed as follows:Select 4* MTE...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. luceeTX Posted March 15, 2006 Author Report Posted March 15, 2006 i know that one rebid zone is UES, but not sure about the other one?
luceeTX Posted March 15, 2006 Author Report Posted March 15, 2006 okay, i figured out my other re-bid zone and tried ALL of this with no luck!! when i finally got to the last bid of 170, here is what they said (i chose not to rebid at 195):We searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we were not able to find a hotel that would accept your price for $170 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number ###. If you are willing to raise your price by $25, you can try the same request again right now. Normally you are required to change additional items (add zones, star level, or dates) in order to try your request again. However we are able to extend this one-time opportunity to you because of the zone, quality level and dates you requested.
Blueskies Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 This means you are pretty close to the price and you can try again after 24 hours so you should be able to get it tonight. Did you not follow the strategy or make a mistake? $170 was not the last bid on there. What are your dates? Good luckBlueskies
luceeTX Posted March 15, 2006 Author Report Posted March 15, 2006 no, i did follow the strategy. when i got down to my very last set of bidding, that is when it gave me the offer to go up to 195. i will try again tonight and let you all know.thanks.
thereuare Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Did you change the strategy at all from what was suggested above that you max'd out at $170, or did you just stop at $170 and not use the remaining bids?Is $180 still your maximum bid... or is it now higher/lower than that? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
luceeTX Posted March 17, 2006 Author Report Posted March 17, 2006 it would not let me use my remaining bids because it offered me to go up to 195. the system made me wait about 10 minutes before it gave me that option of 195, so i never did try 180. i got almost all the way to the end.
Blueskies Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 You can bid again after 24 hours so you can try the bidding again but up it by $5 or $10.
thereuare Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Is $180 still your maximum bid... or is it now higher/lower than that? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

thereuare Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I would follow this strategy for your next round of bidding, with a $180 maximum:Select 4* MTE...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $173, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $173, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $178, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180.Good Luck.
