Chad
Hi, I am new here to the board and would like some tips on bidding for Vegas 7/4-7/6. I would like to stay at the nicest place possible for the least amount of money. (Doesn't everyone?) I have bid on priceline before, and would like to make the best bids. thanks for your help! dahammer
chad, a little more information is would helpwhat is your maximum room rate per night and your minimum star rating, what zones are you considering? Link to comment
Chad
Thanks dahammer, I am willing to spend $90-120 a night and would like to be on the strip. Link to comment
thereuare
Your budget shouldn't be a problem... it comes down to if you want to be at the bottom end of your range for a 'pretty good' place or the upper end of your range for an even nicer place. One of the best 'bangs for the buck' is the Aladdin for $68/nite.Near the top of your range (or maybe slightly more) you may even be able to get the Venetian.Let us know your thoughts. Chad
What would be a good bid for the Venetian? Do you know when Aladdin will be Planet hollywood? Link to comment
thereuare
I don't think anyone has been told of the conversion date yet, but their website does now show a video of "what's to be coming soon."How high would you bid for a 5* in the strip... we'll suggest a strategy to follow. Chad
I would pay perhaps $120 (with taxes). Will that cut it? Link to comment
thereuare
What's that pre-fee and taxes? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
Chad
Suggest retail price for 5-star Luxury in Strip Area is $131 (is that really true?), so my bid would be $100 for a total price of $229 for two nights. Worth it? Link to comment
thereuare
You should ignore priceline's retail price 'suggestions'.Rates are low for your dates, but i don't think $100 will currently be successful but you have nothing to lose by trying, so if $100 is your maximum bid i would just bid that amount.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Chad
Tried 5* on the strip for $75, and will slowly work up to $100. Should I be in any rush for 7/3-7/4? (my dates have changed a bit) Any other suggestions for a Vegas room? Link to comment
thereuare
You have plenty of re-bid zones available so you can easily bring your 5* bid up from $75 to $100 in just one bidding cycle. See Priceline Re-Bidding Explained for more information and feel free to ask quesitons and/or confirm your re-bid zones before bidding. However, understand that bidding 5* at $75 is not realistic. Chad
Hi again, I have become an avid reader overnight on this board. How helpful! I promise to use savingsbarn.com for this great resource. As noted in the Priceline board, I am looking for lodging in Vegas 7/3-7/5. I found the following on priceline, I couldn't guess which hotel it is. Any guesses?4* South StripCasino, Resteraunt, Pool, Fitness Center, Spa, Golf, Tennis, Office Center for $94also there is 4* North Strip for $80 (Aladdin) Casino, Resteraunt, Pool, Fitness Center, Spa, Golf, Tennis, Office Center for $945* North Strip (Venetian) for $159.What do people think? thereuare
Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... we'll ultimately move the thread to the Hotwire section of the board if that is the service that is ultimatley used. The 4* South Strip hotel above matches the MGM Grand and that would be our best guess.Doublecheck the amenities on the North Strip property as i believe you are missing one.I don't think that any of these are 'great deals' as they're 50% more than the Aladdin previously mentioned above. The only way i wouldn't take the Aladdin deal is if i wanted a 5* hotel, and then you have to question if that is worth twice as much. jagjag
If you use this link you can get the Aladdin direct for $49/night.https://roomres.aladdincasino.com/CGI-BIN/L...A2560):;cspsu6;?The trailing ? is a necessary part of the URL but the message board refuses to make it part of the link... Chad
I have been thinking hard about this! I have read some reviews of the Aladdin and don't know if I want to be in the midst of construction all the time. I am now going towards the $146 a night for the 5* Venetian through Priceline. Is that a good price? Has anyone stayed there? Is it worth staying there instead of a 4* (Hard Rock, NYNY, Alladin, Luxor or Paris?) Thanks for the advice Link to comment
thereuare
It comes down to personal preference:you have to question if that is worth twice as much. (to some it is, to others it is not)For my own taste... comparing a 4* at $100-$120 i would try to upgrade to the 5* property; but at $49/nite for the Aladdin i would take my chances (as long as the pool will be open... it'll be hot in July) and if i didn't like the construction spend most of my time at one of the neighboring casinos. They're close enough that you could still 'walk next door' and have it feel like the hotel you're staying at, while having the convenience off 'stopping by your room' for a short rest or anything you may have forgotten while you were out. That's my .02 Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
Chad
Thanks! I just booked Aladdin for $49. I can cancel up to 48 hours in advance. So if I see anything better out there, I'll let you know. Thanks for everything! Link to comment
Chad
I just noticed that Hotwire was offerering the Aladdin for $76, and I found a deal for $50. With double the difference will I then get it from Hotwire for $24 a night?Hotwire is showing:4* in North StripCasino, Resteraunt, Pool, Fitness, Spa, Business Center, Golf and TennisI assume that is the Aladdin?Would it work even though I used the code mentioned above? Or is that considered a group rate? Link to comment
thereuare
I don't know where that link came from (as i didn't post it), but it doesn't appear to be a rate 'available to the general public' since the rate directly from the Aladdin website shows $89/nite. Chad
It is a special code, does that mean that it will not work for double the difference since it is an earlybird special? Link to comment
thereuare
Do you see where this special code/promotion is 'advertised'? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
Chad
There are no public announcements, so my guess is I will not be able to do double the difference. Thanks Link to comment
Chad
We ended up staying at the Planet Hollywood Hotel for $49 a night. Link to comment
