Cockroach
Hi, I have nerve problems and limited ability to type/tap. I can't find prices for Priceline St. Louis Fenton. I looked at calendar of wins but found nothing. Also, I scrolled through a few pages of wins but just don't have ability to keep scrolling. Tried search box but found nothing. I see hotwire has $64 for 3 star with last guest getting Holiday Inn and Suites Fenton. I have no idea where to start bidding. Maybe $35? Can someone help? Thanks. Link to comment
thereuare
Here is a LINK to all posts on the board that include the word 'Fenton', but keep in mind that the prices you see may have little to do with what is available/needed for your own dates. Let us know the dates of your stay and we will suggest a bidding strategy for you to follow. Also, if you're able, please follow-up your previous Hotwire Mexico thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip (even if you canceled the tip, didn't use PRICELINE /HOTWIRE, booked a regular rate hotel, etc) Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Cockroach
Thanks. In the end, we booked a private condo in Mexico. I'm having lots of problems with Priceline. 1) Name Your own price won't come up on link you provided- chat people say only on the app. Is this a mistake? Chatting is very difficult and time-consuming- have done it 6 or so times. They keep pushing over and over to NOT use bidding option. After quite some time trying to figure something out, one just hung up on me suddenly. This was without me making him/her wait. 2) Is there a way to store credit card and address in app so you don't have to put it in every time? Chat answer very difficult to understand because 3) Is there a way to get Name Your Own price to really let you name your own price? It let me do it once. Now it just tells me there are no deals available and wants to convert me to express deals. What do I have to do to back out of it and really be permitted to put my own price in? The chat option makes you answer the same questions over and over and I've had enough of being told to use some other product. Thanks a million. Name your own price has been a gem. Link to comment

You had asked for a way to see threads pertaining to 'Fenton' which is the purpose of the link above. As priceline continues to move/hide the link to Name Your Own Price, we have set up the following page for easy access: BiddingForHotelRooms.com On 1/12/2020 at 9:55 AM, thereuare said: Let us know the dates of your stay and we will suggest a bidding strategy for you to follow. We can't offer any suggestions for bid prices or strategies without knowing your travel dates, since prices differ from one nite to the next. For multiple reasons i prefer not to use the app. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
Cockroach
THis is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo helpful. They flat out lied and said it could ONLY be done on the app, then a bunch of gobledygook. Should have stuck with you. Worth your weight in gold! Link to comment
Cockroach
Dates are 1/18-1/20, 2020, two rooms, only want Fenton. 3* only. I do understand how to work it so venn diagrams don't overlap or whatever. Thanks a mil Link to comment
thereuare
We will of course start lower, but i think you're most likely looking at the $50-$60 range for a 3 star hotel for these dates... what would be your maximum bid price? Also, are there any other areas that are acceptable but are not including because you think they are over your budget? With only one re-bid zone available at the 3 star level it would be helpful if there were any other areas that could be included. Cockroach
No question I am sticking to your advice only on where to click. Can't add additional zones because of trouble riding in a car. Good to know there is 1 other re-bid zone. I looked at link you sent with dates and wins and saw one 3* years ago for *41. Was offered $63 or so for express deals or hotwire, so I think has to be much lower than that. I have a lot of time to keep rebidding before 1/18 so I don't mind tiny increments. No way would I bid over $60. Link to comment

Not really, it doesn't have to be much lower than that... HOTWIRE Hot Rates and PRICELINE EXPRESS prices are already discounted, so you're not that likely going to see another 35% discount from the already discounted prices. A 35% (or more) discount from regular retail rates is a reasonable target, but we usually don't see priceline bidding result in an additional 35% savings from Express Deal rates. 5 hours ago, Cockroach said: I have a lot of time to keep rebidding before 1/18 so I don't mind tiny increments. 3-4 days is not really a lot of time when you have only one re-bid zone available. You have to remember that hotel pricing, and inventory, is dynamic in that it is always changing... what if a hotel would accept $53/nite right now, but because you start unreasonably low at $41 and go up in small increments, that by the time you get to $53 the hotel is no longer available (or rates have increased beyond $53)? It's easy to play the small increment game when you have a lot of re-bid zones, or when you have a few weeks before arrival, but inside of 3 days i think you have more to lose than gain. However, it's your money and trip, so you can start as low as you'd like, although i continue to believe you'll likely need to be in the $50-$60 area to be successful. Given your bias towards waiting and small increments perhaps: Select 3* and Fenton... Bid $48, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $51 If rejected wait 24 hours and use BiddingForHotelRooms to re-access priceline (and not a link in an email they may send letting you know you're eligible to bid again): Bid $54, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $57 If the above too is rejected i'd then take the following PRICELINE EXPRESS offer along with the board 5% Priceline Coupon discount: 3* Fenton - Kirkwood (confirm your dates on the landing page) for $63/nite with: Free Parking Free Breakfast Fitness Center Casino Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool ==> for which our best guess is the Holiday Inn Express and Suites St. Louis West Fenton Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Cockroach
Thanks. That's very helpful. Did I see somewhere that you don't necessarily have to wait 24 hours? Link to comment
thereuare
In the example above you're placing TWO BIDS inside of 24 hours... that is where your re-bid zone(s) come into play, not having to wait 24 hours. However, for the St. Louis region you only have one re-bid zone, which is what enables you to place a second bid inside of 24 hours. Do you understand re-bidding and how to determine your re-bid zone? Cockroach
Thanks. All 3 stars. Fenton is 3 stars, Hazelwood no greater than 2stars. So far, my rejected bids with one zone, was $33, then adding two zones, $34. Took your advice and got rejected again with one zone at $47 (I'm just that frugal) and added two zones at $51. They offered that I increase by $19; I signed off. I do understand how to bid in less than 24 hours by adding a zone. I ENJOY this. I learned this about bidding again in less than 24 hours. 9 eastern last night, my bid for $34 was rejected. At 10:39 EST, they sent an email saying I could bid again, no need to change zones or dates. So that's what I meant about bidding in less than 24 hours. Is this perk common? I'm telling my friends about this fun! Link to comment

Make sure to direct them to the bidding form at BiddingForHotelRooms.com if they are looking to make their own bids as it will save them the trouble you went thru trying to locate the bidding page. Sometimes you'll be offered the opportunity to bid again before 24 hours, but you can't count on this to be offered. Cockroach
I took your advice today. I did one bid for $54, then added another zone and did a bid for $57. Then I used priceline express and Priceline Coupon BBJAN20 as you suggested. Priceline express cost $65, minus the 5% off coupon, for the Best Western Kirkwood Inn. I am VERY PLEASED AND EXCITED. Could you direct me to the right link to post all of this? Thanks so much for all the step by step help! Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success! Hope you're happy with the results and this property will work well, and be convenient, for your plans in the area. 1 hour ago, Cockroach said: Could you direct me to the right link to post all of this? We took are of this for you, but in the future there should be a GREEN button on the top right and/or bottom left of the page 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN'... this will give you a form to use to report the hotel win as well as add any details of your purchases in a reply. Once this button is used it disappears which is why you don't see it any more (as we just used it to edit the topic title to reflect your purchase). Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase. Enjoy your stay. Cockroach
I want to use priceline again for the New Buffalo, MI area. I tried to find the calendar of wins button but was unsuccessful. You may remember that typing and tapping is painful for me. Could you help me find it again? Thanks so much! Link to comment
thereuare
New Buffalo, MI is not a very popular area as far as people who use the forum, so the odds of finding any meaningful information in a calendar of wins from somebody who is traveling there on/around the same dates as yours is very slim. Please post in the Michigan Priceline hotel forum along with the dates of your stay and any other details that may be important (desired star rating, budget, etc) and we will take it from there. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Cockroach
I decided to scrap the idea of priceline in New Buffalo, MI. Thanks for all the help, though. Link to comment
thereuare
Happy to help and thank you for 'closing' with your decision... let us know if you want us to have a look at anything else for any future trips. Keep in mind our current Priceline Coupons also work for pre-paid stays that are rated 3+ stars and for stays that are 2+ nites, so that could be an option as well if there is a specific hotel you wanted to book.
