pollett77 Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Hi, I have a price of $153 for a 4* in Aruba for July 11 to July 20. Hotel amenities are: beachfront, casino, restaurants, pools, fitness center, golf nearby, tennis nearby, business center. Could you help determine the hotel? Thanks, Jody :)
GM Mike Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Jody -According to our HOTWIRE HOTEL LIST for the caribbean, this would be a match for the Wyndham. That's not a guarantee; just our best guess based on what we've seen in the past.
pollett77 Posted March 7, 2006 Author Report Posted March 7, 2006 Thanks, Are there any other 4* or higher hotels that hotwire deal with in Aruba?Jody
pollett77 Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 Hi,I'am planning a trip to Aruba for the summer. Is it possible to choose a star rating when clicking on resorts rather than a "star". Can I ensure that I won't get a lower star hotel when bidding on a resort? On Priceline for Aruba it is showing two 3* hotels and everything else is in the resort section. Are there bidding tips to steer away from the renaissance, when trying to get the Mariott? Thanks,Jody :)
thereuare Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Please do not double post... keep all posts for this stay in this thread. If you ultimately use priceline we will then move this thread to that section of the board. On Priceline "resort" is a star category (currently higher rated than 4* and lower than 5*) so you won't be able to also select a star category since RESORT is treated as a category itself (think of it as a 4.5* rated hotel). pollett77 Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 Sorry for the betterbidding inexperience. Thanks for the clarification of star rating on resorts. Thanks,Jody
pollett77 Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 Hi,Could you help me with hotels. I have prices for two hotels in Aruba from July 11 - 20. The first one is a 4* for $103. The amenities are: Resort, Oceanfront, Near beach, Casino, Pools, Restaurants, Fitness Center, Spa Services. The other one is a 3.5* for $151. The amenities are: Resort, Oceanfront, Beachfront, Restaurants, Pools, Fitness Center,Spa Services, Tennis Nearby. Thanks,Jody
thereuare Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 When looking at Hotwire amenities, you need to click "View Hotel Details" to see the complete list of amenities. Can yo confirm that the 4* you're seeing also has a Tennis and Business icon; and that the 3.5* also has a Business icon?If so the 4* is a match for the Renaissance and that would be our best guess (although i'll add a slight chance of the Wyndham). The 3.5* is almost an exact match (not seen with both Oceanfront and Beachfront, but this is a bit redundant is a way that Hotwire used to show both of these) for the Golden Tulip Bucuti Beach Resort. With the 3.5* costing 50% more than the 4* i'm not sure of how much of an option this really is.Since this is an extended stay, one option is to see if the same hotel (based upon the star rating and amenities) appears for the first nite (or two) of your stay and then also appears for the remainder of stay. If so, you can purchase the first nite (or two) in order to "look behind the curtain" and see the name of the hotel... if you're happy with it you can then purchase the balance of your stay, if not, deal with it for a nite or two and then make alternate plans for the remainder of your stay.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. pollett77 Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 Thanks for the quick response. Both resorts have the extra amenities that you mentioned. I'm not sure if we want to stay off of the high rise section. Although, the Renaissance deal is almost too good to pass up. I know we won't be going to the golden tulip. I will try spliting the stay to find out the resort. Good idea. I can promise I will be using this site and savingsbarn to book our hotel. Thanks,Jody :)
