alosito
I am going on a trip to NYC, and somebody suggested that it is cheaper to stay in a hotel in New Jersey and just commute by subway to downtown NYC. Could somebody please suggest hotels in which areas of New Jersey I should look at so that it would be an easy commute and more or less decent and not too expensive (around $50) hotel? dahammer
please list your dates of travel, rates in this area have almost doubled in the past two years, along with rates in Manhattan. While you would like to get a room for $50, what is your maximum bid as we would not want to suggest a bidding strategy that is greater than your budget. Link to comment
alosito
The dates for my stay are from 03/16/06 until 03/23/06. I would say the highеst bid that I can afford before all the taxes is $60. Spliting is an option. It would nice to get a 2- or 3-star hotel for this price. Thank you for your help. Link to comment
thereuare
At the 3* level you have one re-bid zone avaialble. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Secaucus/North Bergen...Bid $50, if rejected add Secaucus/Meadowlands...Bid $55, if rejected add Jersey City...Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60.The above will take you up to your maximum bid. Try it for your complete stay, if rejected (likely) let us:1) if you'd prefer a lower star rating for your complete stay or a higher star rating and splitting your bid2) how many times you're willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID We'll take it from there.Good Luck.PS- not sure if you'll have a car or not, but do note that without a car the Meadowlands and Secaucus zones can be a bit of a hassle to get to from the NYC airports without a car (it's do-able via mass transportation, but it takes a little while) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
alosito
Thank you for the advise. I did all these and got rejected each time:Chose Secaucus - North Bergen and bid $50 -- got rejectedAdded Secaucus/Meadowlands and bid $55 -- got rejectedAdded Jersey City and bid $58 -- got rejectedAfter that, I tried to just bid $55 straight on Jersey City with dates 03/16 - 03/22 -- got rejected.Changed the dates to 03/16 - 03/21 and bid $60 -- got rejected.Any other suggestions?
