Looking at the Hyatt web-site the rates for your dates are:

Tues 279.00 Wed 279.00 Thurs 199.00 Frid 199.00

So your problem as you quite rightly state is the Tues and Wed nights.

At this moment in time there probably isn't PL inventory for those two days.

Hotwire shows $189 for the Thurs and Friday.

If you are willing to split the bid then you could try for the Thurs and Friday now, possibly at a bid of $55.

With the free rebid opportunity you could bid agian at $60

(My guess I'm not the expert :) ).

Just be aware though that the Doubletree is showing $199 for all your dates

And is showing $179 for the Thurs\Friday

So splitting the bid may mean splitting your stay.

Your call.

I'm assuming this is to searve as a 'base' while visiting NYC?

For the prices you're looking at i would sooner just stay in NYC. Jersey City is great as a cheap alternative to Manhattan, but when Jersey City doesn't have inexpensive rates, you can sometimes stay in Manhattan for a similar price.

How many will be in your group or are you traveling solo?

Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

im coming from uk with wife and two teenagers aint going to spend much time in hotel, thought j-city would be better or do i look further afield meadowlands is cheaper but i dont know what it is like there, public transport is a novelty so aint bothered about that, compared to a hotel in the uk non of these are expensive

I am assuming that you won the hotel on a priceline bid. Is this correct? Did you book two rooms or are you hoping that you will be able to get 2 Queens when you get there? or did you book it through Hotwire for a party of 4?

Here is a link to the hotel website. There is complimentary parking.

Why are you hiring a car? Are you going somewhere where there is no public transport? I have been to NY quite a few times and would only pick a car up on my way out of the city. You have good transport links from the hotel by what I read.

I would also suggest that you join the Priority Club, the loyalty card for the group (free). You will see a link in the website noted above. This may help you get any added extras or have a bit more pull if you have any problems. I'm sure I read somewhere you get breakfast free but may be wrong.

Take a look at Tripadvisor.com for more reviews of the hotel.

Hope this helps. If you have not been to NYC before you will love it.

marty it sure makes it difficult to read your post without punctuation as everything kind of runs together you know what i mean but to answer your question the crowne plaza meadowlands at $75 is a good deal and the bus to NYC is just steps away from the hotel please note that this hotel features what has been called the American plan which means that breakfast is on your own which is to say that you have to pay for breakfast yourself it should be noted that parking is free at this hotel and there is a convenience store just across the street if you need to get a six pack or some gin and bitters yes i have stayed here about 3 times using hotwire or priceline and i would stay again when in the area you may want to consider staying in NYC if rates are low enough when you consider the daily cost of a renting a car because the bus trip into the city takes about 25 minutes not very convenient if you want to return to your hotel during the day hope this helps enjoy your trip :)

i did not expect to win to be honest,it was my first bid on this area, did try jersey city but too expensive went to 95$ and gave up. i have the option now of hiring car at jfk or making a trip to newark to pick up car on 27th, i suppose having the car will be handy,i am going to bid on some other hotels and i will use savings barn for this, i am going to boston, niagara and washington, then home anything to see in PA or should i just drive through. thanks again

Hi Martyd,

So, it was a Priceline bid. For 1 room or two?

Niagara is a good trip and we liked the trip up there too, some lovely scenery by the Hudson and the Finger lakes. If you haven't been there before you will want to stay at the Canadian side of the border and I believe that there are some priceline options in this area. You should visit Niagara on the Lake. Very pretty little town and lots of individual shops. We stayed in Corning on our way up (before I knew about Priceline). We just kept going till we found a nice place that had a room for us. Stayed at Radisson.

Have not been to Boston yet but going this year hopefully. I believe there is a good train link from NYC to Boston but suspect you may not be going there directly. Same with Washington DC - going this year.

I can tell you as a parent of teenagers that you may want to stop off at Allentown PA for the theme park "Dorney Park" - http://www.dorneypark.com/. If your teens like big rides they will love this. Look out for coupons locally or perhaps try tripadvisor to see if they can give you a steer. If your kids are into sports then you should check out what's on in the cities your visiting as it stops them moaning, in my experience. Even they are not big sports fan, sitting outside watching a baseball game in the evening is great.

Another option would be to check out concerts, etc via ticketmaster.com

How long is your trip?

I am sure you will have a great stay.

Martyd,

Later this year we are doing NYC, Boston and DC with a few days in Florida too and only have two weeks! Only driving the NYC - Boston leg though.

Last summer we did SF, LA and LV in two weeks driving most of it, picked up car as left SF. Great trip especially the Grand Canyon and Route 1.

About the parking in Niagara Falls, I would suspect that there would be details on the hotels websites whether parking was chargeable. I am sure we had to pay at the Sheraton or at a garage just behind it. Amazing view of falls. I read that if you go to the casino and get a player's advantage card, you can park at the casino for free and save $20 on parking.

I would suggest you look on tripadvisor for specific parking tips once you know where you are going exactly.

i have been asked to clarify some details, this is the priceline forum so yes i won it on priceline. first bid of $75 . i have been assured this is a good price, seems very cheap to me. i contacted the hotel and expressed a desire for a double bedded room, (2 queens for the americans) and i was informed i can ask but it is allocation on arrival, so we will see.
