Kat_rua Posted September 10, 2016 Report Posted September 10, 2016 Hello! My husband and I will be going to NYC 10/11 to 10/13 and are looking to stay in the Lower East Side or East Village/Chinatown area but are also considering West Village and SoHo/Tribeca. We stayed in the Upper West Side in April and really enjoyed it but want something different this time. Also, we want to make sure to get over to see the Brooklyn Bridge and to visit the Transportation Museum. We also plan on going to the Intrepid Museum to do the Star Trek Academy Experience (Live long and prosper ?)! Anywhoo, we would like to spend less than $200 a night but stay in a nicer ~4* hotel. On Priceline Name Your Own Price there's a 4 1/2* Deluxe Plus with the following amenities: Indoor or outdoor pool, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Free Wi-fi, Business center and an 8+ guest rating. From the hotel list, it looks like this could be the Hotel Indigo Lower East Side, which would be a nice hotel in a decent location. Anyone have any recommendations for bid suggestions? Or other possibilities? Thank you so much! Kat

AaronJB Posted September 10, 2016 Report Posted September 10, 2016 I'm seeing the potential Indigo for $288 on PRICELINE EXPRESS. Unfortunately, it's going to be difficult getting a 4.5* for under $200 for these dates, as this is a busy period. I do see a 4.5* in the Theater District-Times Square zone on Priceline Express for $225 (Restaurant, Free Internet, Business Center, Fitness Center, No Smoking Rooms/Facilities; please confirm the correct date/s of travel are showing on the landing page after clicking on the link.) This would be a possible match for the Premier Times Square, which would be a fairly easy walk from the Intrepid. I also see a 4* in the Lower East Side area on HOTWIRE for $171 w/Free Internet, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access. These amenities are common so it may be something else, but the Wyndham Garden Chinatown has been seen with this amenity set previously. Let us know your thoughts on the above and we would be happy to research and offer further suggestions. Kat_rua Posted September 11, 2016 Author Report Posted September 11, 2016 I'm so sorry! I totally forgot that I didn't report back my results! I just posted what we ended up doing in that thread!

Kat_rua Posted September 12, 2016 Author Report Posted September 12, 2016 Thank you for your suggestions, AaronJB! I think we might end up going with the $171 HOTWIRE deal on the Lower East Side, but I would first like to try bidding on the the 4 1/2* Deluxe Plus hotel on the Lower East Side on Priceline. The PRICELINE Name Your Price 4.5* Hotel has an Indoor or outdoor pool, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Free Wi-fi, Business center and an 8+ guest rating, which I think might be the Hotel Indigo. Any suggestions for what to bid? I was thinking of trying to bid with $150. Thank you so much!

At current rates $150 has almost no chance of success for a 4.5* hotel in the LES zone, you will need to be closer to the $250-$275 area to be successful, imo. Regardless, if you let us know your maximum bid for a 4.5* hotel in this zone we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Kat_rua Posted September 15, 2016 Author Report Posted September 15, 2016 So I just went with HOTWIRE's Hot Rate Hotel deal for a 4* in Lower East Side-East Village with Free internet, Fitness Center, Restaurant and Business Center and a 75% Recommendation rate for $159/night and it was the Holiday Inn New York City - Lower East Side! We're pretty happy with it as the reviews all seem pretty good, also $159 is a pretty good deal. Thank you all for your help and suggestions!
thereuare Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you're pleased with the hotel and deal you received and are looking forward to your trip. Not too far from your hotel is this 'well known' place that has tons of candy from both yesterday and today, all at great prices: Economy Candy 108 Rivington Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
