Hotwire Hotel: 4* New York City (Upper West Side) NYLO New York City

Hello,

 

My husband and I will be visiting NYC April 3-6th and are looking for a hotel room. We don't have a specific preference on zone, as long as it's a safe neighborhood, good transportation hub, and not in Time's Square. We would like anything about 3* but obviously if we can get a 4 or 5* for a good deal, we'll take it...

 

Some zones we were thinking about are Midtown West, Central Park South, and Upper West Side but we'd be ok with anything in the East and West Village and up (but no Time's Square). 

 

We would love to get something for as cheap as we can, but are willing to spend up to $150-175 a night if it's a higher ranked place.

 

Does anyone know what a reasonable rate to bid for would be for our dates and preferred zones? Or are there other zones you would recommend bidding in? As long as we're near the subway and can get around, we're good!

The only concern that I have is that there is no way to guarantee being near a subway. When you bid you can be anywhere in the zone and a subway may not be right nearby. Would that be an acceptable risk?

 

In terms of HOTWIRE, one of the cheaper 4* options is a Rockefeller Center $119 w/ Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Spa services .

-- This would be a possible match for the W New York or Shoreham.

I will add that i'm this 3 star Empire State Building hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) with the only amenity showing being a Pets Allowed amenity.  My guess for this one would be the Nh Jolly Hotel Madison Towers, and while not my favorite hotel in NYC, it is located near Grand Central for easy subway access and not too far from other subway station(s), so at just $100/nite it may work for your needs.

I guess we really don't need any bells and whistles in our hotel now that I think about it so long as it's nice, clean and a good location we'll be happy.

#1: $175/night 4* Central Park South hotel with business center, Fitness center, Internet access, Restaurant(s), Self-service laundry and a 75% recommendation?

 

#2: $139/night 3* Central Park South area boutique hotel with business center, boutique hotel, internet access, kitchenette with an 80% recommendation? 

 

#3: $162/night 4* Upper West Site area boutique hotel with business center, restaurant(s), pet friendly, boutique hotel, self-service laundry, internet access, fitness center, smoke free rooms with 90% recommendation? 

 

#4: $101/night 3* Empire State Building area hotel with pet friendly, self-service laundry, internet access with 65% recommendation?

I'm so sorry I totally forgot to post about what we ended up doing! 

 

I decided to go with #3 HOTWIRE hotel, 4* Upper West Site area boutique hotel with business center, restaurant(s), pet friendly, boutique hotel, self-service laundry, internet access, fitness center, smoke free rooms with 90% recommendation for $162/night and it was the NYLO Hotel! 

 

We were very happy with our choice! I was able to email the hotel directly after making our reservation and request a room with a king bed instead of two double beds and they very happily obliged!
