Started bidding for 3* at $40 hoping to get Marriott City Center. Raised to $45 and $50. All were rejected. Rebid 72 hours later for 4* at $55, raised bid to $60 for 3*

Hotel website shows rates of $147-$253

I'll settle for the Holiday Inn at $60, which is only 2 blocks away from the Marriott, where my meeting takes place. Group rate at the Marriott was $119 vs $189 posted rate.

:) This hotel is undergoing floor-by-floor renovations. As a Priceline guest, I was only offer a run-of-the-house room--smoking on the third floor withthe comment that that was all they could do because I booked the room "online." I couldn't breath for three nights. There was late night noise from people exiting nearby clubs on the street and I was awakened at 5:30 am one morning by the slamming of a liftgate on a food-service truck making a delivery below my window. Add to this a security guard firm using a room down the hall for hiring. Not a pleasant stay at all.
