Flyers
Hello all,I am interested in getting a 3* room in Atlantic City for 1 night (Sat. March 11-12 2006). I do not really care at what location (Tropicana, Sheraton, or Holiday Inn). I checked on Hotwire and the 3 star hotel on there is going for 310 and the 3.5 for 228. Would a 150 bid on priceline likely be accepted? Also have the 2 star properties been identified in AC?Can anyone please give me a bidding strategy for Priceline and about how much I should be looking to bid? I know Sat. must be a tough day to bid on in AC -so any help would be great. Thanks in advance. Link to comment

Flyers
I think the max would be around 180. Link to comment
thereuare
At the 3* level you have three re-bid zones avaialble. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Atlantic City...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Atlantic City and re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Atlantic City and re-bid zone3...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Atlantic City and re-bid zone1 and re-bid zone2...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Atlantic City and re-bid zone1 and re-bid zone3...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Atlantic City and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 3* Atlantic City and re-bid zone1 and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...Bid $180.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Flyers
Thanks for your help with the strategy. However, it looks like Sat. nights are even tougher than I thought. I followed the strategy using the rebid zones of AC west, somers point, and vineland-Millville all the way up to 180 and was not successful. Should I wait and try again or should I just look for a two star property in Downtown AC? Is it likely demand will change and a property will become available? Please advise. Thanks again! thereuare
Demand changes all the time, but it could also get worse and not better. You also have to factor in the area and how comfortable you'd be at a less star rated property (remember that once you get off the boardwalk, Atlantic City can be a 'not so friedly place' and i would have some concerns about 'blindly' purchasing a 2* rated hotel in this area).Do you have a back-up reservation anyplace yet? What will you do if ultimately unsuccessful with the opaque providers? dahammer
Saturday Night check ins are difficult using Priceline in Atlantic City, even when the water temp is 40 degrees.... you might have better luck in Pleasantville or West Atlantic city. You could even book conventionally at the Marriott Seaview Resort in Absecon, which is a short drive to the marina casinos such as the Borgata, Harrah's and Trump Marina. Free parking is available at the Showboat if you are a member of their rewards program. Link to comment
Flyers
I think that I will wait and try to bid again. I agree some of those 2 star properties are a bit rough so I think I will reserve those as a last resort. I do not have any back up reservations so if I am unsuccessful in getting a room at a three star I will either just rough it with a two star of not just stay the night (i'm coming from outside philly and org. was just going for a concert). Thanks again thereuare and dahammer for your help and I will update this post if I am successful. Link to comment
thereuare
The MARRIOTT referenced above seems very reasonable (if i recall when i looked earlier, it was like $139/nite).
