stevo369 Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 I haven't done the bidding process yet and I have never been to New Orleans. I want to stay within walking distance of Bourbon Street. I am going next month on Jan 28th for 2 nights (leaving on the 30th). If I get a decent Express deal, I may not bother with bidding. 4*PetsBusiness CenterRestaurantIndoor/Outdoor Pool Thanks Again
thereuare Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 Please start by following-up your previous Hotwire Vail thread with whatever you decided to do for that stay. Please remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you make them (even if you don't ultimately use PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc) as this help keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone... as well as being a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your travel plans. Best guess for teh PRICELINE EXPRESS offer above would be the Hotel Monteleone. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
stevo369 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Report Posted December 27, 2015 Any Suggestions? Is that a nice Hotel? Is it close to all the action? Should I try the bidding process to see if I can improve on my rate? Whatya think?
thereuare Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 The Hotel Monteleone gets excellent reviews and is right in the Quarter... you'll be in the thick of it. If you try bidding on PRICELINE you may get something slightly cheaper, but it may not be this specific hotel or one that is so well reviewed... so you have to decide how much savings is worth receiving any hotel in the zone vs. paying the $193/nite rate for this PRICELINE EXPRESS offer (which has good reviews) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or how we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
stevo369 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Report Posted December 28, 2015 Its a nice deal if that is the Hotel as it charges $289 on its website. Thanks I will let you know what I do soon
stevo369 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Report Posted December 28, 2015 Any ideas? Looking for a nice Hotel within walking distance of the action of the French Quarter. Priceline Express had a deal for $193 for a 4*(Monteleone maybe), so this is comparable. Id love the Hyatt but the website said its soldout. 85% recommended. Great! Amenities Business center | Fitness center | Internet access | Pet friendly | Pool(s) | Restaurant(s) | Smoke-free rooms Tripadvisor 4 out of 5
AaronJB Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 If you go to BiddingHelper.com, search for your date/s of travel, click "Hotwire Easy View", then "Full Amenities" next to the listing of interest, do you see additional amenities beyond the ones noted above? Please keep all posts for this stay within this thread - thanks. stevo369 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Report Posted December 28, 2015 4.5* $170/Night FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower 4* $171/Night FULL AMENITIES: Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower Any guesses? 4.5* is less expensive but that may not mean a lot. I could do 4 or 4.5*. Just want the best, most convenient property. Thanks
thereuare Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I will let you know what I do soon Are you not ready to book and commit to this trip, as the hotels currently available may not be the ones offered once you're ready to move forward with a purchase. As well, with the previously guessed Hotel Monteleone being having a 4.5/5.0 TA rating and the #5 rated hotel in the city... why not this one? What more is is that you're looking for in a hotel for this trip? stevo369 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Report Posted December 28, 2015 I am just curious what Hotwire has to offer? I am going to book very soon, just not this moment. I like to comparison shop so I like to have at least 2 or 3 options to choose from. Sorry to be a bother, but any idea what the Amenities above under Hotwire tell me which Hotel it is? I just got back from a trip and need a few days to decompress. Thanks
thereuare Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 I am going to book very soon, just not this moment... I just got back from a trip and need a few days to decompress. That's fine... just post back once you're ready to move forward and commit to a purchase. As you saw first hand in one of your previous threads: You are right, the price went up to $227, I guess it changes day by day.that express rate seems to be on again off again, and right now its not available.... the hotels currently offered may not be the ones that are available once you're ready to commit (or the prices may change so much to put them out of budget). Researching hotels can be a timely process, so we try to limit the research to trips/offers that are ready to be purchased. I am just curious what Hotwire has to offer?Have you even attempted to compare the amenity sets above to what appears in the Hotwire Hotel List to look for a match?? stevo369 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Report Posted December 28, 2015 I'm looking at the amenities list on HOTWIRE. They all appear to be very similar in the 4.5* and 4* properties. Right now I see $194 for 4 star PRICELINE EXPRESS $170 for 4.5* Hotlwire $158 for 4* Hot.wire Also, Royal Sonesta like a nice property too. Pet friendly seems like an amenity that not all properties have. At least the Hyatt does not have this.
stevo369 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Report Posted December 29, 2015 Would you also recommend I try the Bidding process as I have never used PRICELINE EXPRESS, I've only Bid on the Price.line site? What would you recommend I start the bidding at? # zones, etc. Thanks
thereuare Posted December 29, 2015 Report Posted December 29, 2015 stevo369, As per above, it's all a moot point until you're ready to move forward to bid and/or commit to a purchase. There is no point in researching prices (or hotels) to develop a bidding strategy until you're ready to buy a hotel rooms as rates may be quite different (or the hotels offers may be quite different) at which point we will end up repeating the process all over again for the current offers. First decide that you're ready to make a purchase, then second decide what is most important to you... the lowest possible price for any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you bid... or is it worth paying a little more to have a guess as to the hotel being offered and know some of the amenities offered and that it is well reviewed? stevo369 Posted January 4, 2016 Author Report Posted January 4, 2016 Ok I am ready to move forward as my budget of 150-190/night in French Quarter for 1/28/16 for 2 nights looks like a possibility. Here are the updates from Priceline and Hotwire. 1. Priceline 4* $199 - 8.0 out of 10, guest favorite, Pets, Bus Center, Restaurant, Indoor/Out Pool, Fitness: Probably Monteleone 2. Priceline 3.5* $156 - 7 out of 10, Business Center, Indoor/Outdoor Pool, fitness Center: Probably Doubletree 3. Hotwire 4* $153 Business center, Fitness Center 85% recommended Great, 4.5 * collection Internet access Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Smoke-free rooms Accessibility Accessible for visually impaired Accessible for hearing Any ideas??? 4. Hotwire 4* $123 80% recommended, good, 4* collection, Business center Fitness center Internet access Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Smoke-free rooms Accessibility Accessible for visually impaired Braille or raised signage Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel Not sure of this one either. Any ideas? I am more comfortable in the $150 range so Id like to identify the Hotwire property that's $153 Thanks Again.
thereuare Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 It appears that the HOTWIRE offers are in the French Quarter - Bourbon Street zone, but I believe there are more amenities for each then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you use our BiddingHelper.com tool. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities (including any accessible amenities) then what you have listed above? Using this method, below is the full list of amenities i'm seeing for each: 4.5* $153 Pet Friendly Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower --> if this is what you're seeing, the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel would be my guess for this one 4* $123/nite Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower --> Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter would be my guess here Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. stevo369 Posted January 5, 2016 Author Report Posted January 5, 2016 Ok, thanks for the help with the Bidding Helper. It also looks like the 3.5* options for $171 and 168 on Hotwire are the Maison Du Puy and Wyndham as both are Boutique Hotels but the Wyndham has the Golf nearby. The reviews of the Doubletree are not so good, actually bad and the location is not great (just near casino, that's it). So its back to the $199 - 4* Priceline - Monteleone or the 4.5* Hotwire Sheraton for $153. I will keep you updated on my decision as Price (150-190), Location (French quarter access), and comfort (good reviews) are my 3 requirements. Anything else you see Im missing, let me know. Thanks

stevo369 Posted January 6, 2016 Author Report Posted January 6, 2016 Thanks for all hour help. This literally just popped up and I grabbed it as it is a 50% discount, ($169 on the Marriott website) the largest discount that appeared on the PRICELINE page. It seems that some of the deep discounts show up and literally disappear. I saw a possible match for the 4* Omni Royal Crescent for $121, discounted from $178, but I wasn't sure. So my final decision was down to the Monteleone for $194 per night or the Marriot for $84 a night. I chose the Marriot as 2 nights there is still less than one night at the Monteleone AND I can use the savings on a nice dinner or two. The Marriott has great 4* reviews on Tripadvisor and is in a good location. I really like Marriott properties. I'm booking Vegas in a few weeks, I will be in touch with that when I get back. Rated 8 out of 10 (or higher)guest favorite - Guaranteed Amenities: Priceline Restaurant Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center
