joetravel Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 My wife and I are traveling to Venice for a wedding, weekend of June 17th. We can leave Tues or Wed prior to weekend. Flying out of O'Hare in Chicago. Willing to take stopover in London or Milan. Thinking of trying PL for flight but not sure of bidding strategy. Any thoughts? Most sights are listing 980 to 1200 as current list price. Appreciate any help. Thanks.
thereuare Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding!Name Your Own Price fares are not available for one-way or multi-destination travel. You could kludge this together by bidding, for examaple, a round trip from ORD to London, and then a separate roundtrip from London to Venice... but since you can't choose flight times you'd need to spend at least one day at each arrival city since you wouldn't be able to bid on a depature until the following day. joetravel Posted January 23, 2006 Author Report Posted January 23, 2006 Thanks Thereuare. I guess I may not have been clear. We are willing to accept a non-direct flight with one layover. Any thoughts on where I should start my bidding? If I choose to leave on Tuesday, how much flexibility will PL take to move me? 24 hours?
thereuare Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 If you bid for a depature on Tuesday your depature will be on Tuesday... priceline will only book you on a flight that leaves on the calendar day you select. Unfortunately you can't pick your layover location, so it may be a less glamorous city than London or Milan. Also be aware that the maximum layover for international flights is longer than for domestic flights (currently as long as 6 hours from US to Europe... see: travel.priceline.com/customerservice/faq/showsolution.asp?plf=pcln&FAQ=ext(avg_connection_times))Priceline "Shop and Compare" does have a flight for $930 for this route (stopping in Milan). If you want to go the Name Your Own Priceline option, how much would you have to save to make the unknown time and unknown length of layover?
