AllCape Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Started at $51 and worked up to $76 using free rebids with S. Boston and Medford. The Wyndham BostonPrice .. $76.00Taxes .. $17.47Total .. $93.47 The Wyndham is a nice hotel but I was trying to get the Hyatt. From reading the posts on this site and past experience I knew the Hyatt was being booked on Priceline for $50-$60. I started looking last week and noticed the Hyatt for $67 on Hotwire. I tried on Priceline to get it starting at $51 and going up to $66. I was unsuccessful. I went back to book the Hyatt on Hotwire (knowing for certain that it was the Hyatt - 3.5* Customer Favorite and all) the next day 1/20/2006. The Hyatt was now $119! I tried several different dates all the way to March and they ranged from $113-$136. I watched Hotwire until today and the results were the same.I also noticed the rack rate for the Hyatt has increased from $149 to $159-$259. They have finished renovations within the hotel. I don't know if that is why their rate is higher. Does anyone have any insight into why the Hyatt has raised their rates?PS A good thing about the Wyndham is that there is a parking garage around the corner that only charges $14 (a bargain in Boston considering most charge $28-$36) and some on the street parking on the weekend.
thereuare Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Congratulations on your winning bid and thank you for posting it to the board.Do you recall the amount of your highest previously rejected bid, before being accepted at $76?The Hyatt is sold-out for the above date, so that at least explains your lack of success for this particular bid. As well, Chicago typically has seasonal pricing... given the typically very cold winters, they have fewer tourists coming to town during the winter months and therefore have lower rates... as the spring thaw comes around rates tend to increase (along with demand). Thanks for the post, and enjoy your stay. AllCape Posted January 23, 2006 Author Report Posted January 23, 2006 The last rejected bid I made was $71.Just a note: I am talking about the Hyatt in Boston not Chicago. I think you may have confused the two. The Hyatt in Boston still has availability.
