mommystop Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 I have the Aladdin booked for 1/17-1/19 for $79+tax (Travelzoo), and my last day to cancel with no charge is today. I just found that Hotwire dropped it's price on the 4* to $60/night. That's a total of $68.16/night after fees. The amentities are Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Spa, Golf, Tennis, and Business Center. I am guessing this is the MGM. My husband is going to Vegas and will be visiting the convention center daily. Do you think I have identified the property correctly? Is there a chance it is the Luxor? I have read the Luxor seems to be the least desirable of the 4* properties and don't really want it. If it is the MGM, would you stick with the Aladdin at 86.11/night total or go with the Hotwire hotel? Also, I tried Priceline last week, but should I revisit that before going with the Hotwire choice? Thanks in advance
mommystop Posted January 15, 2006 Author Report Posted January 15, 2006 That's 4* in the South Strip. Thanks again
mommystop Posted January 15, 2006 Author Report Posted January 15, 2006 Went with the Priceline option. Got 4* MGM for $55. Bid $50 they offered it at $59, re-bid using free zone for $55 and got it. I am very pleased as it is $20 cheaper per night than my Aladdin bid. Besides, my husband is there for the Concrete expo and probably won't be in the room much anyways :)
mommystop Posted January 15, 2006 Author Report Posted January 15, 2006 I first bid $50 for a 4*. Priceline came back and offered $59. I used the convention center as a free re-bid (Convention center area or The Strip would have worked as my husband is there for a convention). I offered $55 and got it. :) I bid up to $70/night on these same dates three days ago. Sometimes I guess it pays to wait until the last minute mid-week in Vegas.
dahammer Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 thanks for the post, sounds like a great deal!I think the location of the Luxor makes it less desirable, its at the far south end of the strip. Plus, the monorail has a stop at the MGM Grand, an easy trip to the convention center. Enjoy the World of Concrete show!
