sand372 Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Hi All,I need some help bidding.I have issued a big in PL for London 4* for 02-Feb - 06-FebI gave a variety of zones: Bloomsbury - Marble Arch, Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge. Mayfair - Soho. Regents Park - Baker Street and raised from up to 65$ and recieved a counter offer for 82$.Tried again with one zone Marble Arch, same stars and dates, and got a counter offer for 118$.Can anyone help with the bidding strategy ? or should i just drop to 3*.BTW: i am bidding in the HK site, is there any problem with that? Thanks in advance,Ziv
rapazfreiburg Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Hi, since the counteroffer in Marble Arch was significantly higher than the counter offer for all the zones together, we can tell that the cheapest available hotel will not be located within that zone. Once your 72h lockout has expired (or you are ready to bid under a different name (if someone else is travelling with you and after you have deleted the priceline cookies), I would do the following: Since obviously all of the zones you mentioned are equally acceptable for you, I would bid $70 for Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge. Mayfair - Soho. Regents Park - Baker Street (thus not including Bloomsbury Marble Arch). If that is declined, raise your bid to $75 and include Bloomsbury Marble Arch. Telling from the counteroffer, I assume that at that point, your bid will have been accepted. If not (I would be surprised), you would have to try again bidding a few dollars higher after your lockout expires. Good luck!Stefan
sand372 Posted January 9, 2006 Author Report Posted January 9, 2006 First bid was 70$ for Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge. Mayfair - Soho. Regents Park - Baker Street was rejected.Added Bloomsbury Marble Arch and raised to 75$ and got this hotel.360$ for the 4 nights with the taxes.I am reading all sorts of reviews about this hotel, i hope it will be ok.The best thing that i read about it and makes me feel good is the location of the hotel.Stefan(rapazfreiburg) - Thanks for your help with the bidding strategy.Ziv
