Priceline Hotel: Las Vegas Strip- Help Please

Hi,

We are going to Las Vegas May 2 - May 5, 2015 - 2 people (Saturday- Tuesday).  I would like to stay on the main strip with a 4 star or above hotel.  I think I need to select North or South Las Vegas strip.  We would like to spend under $150/night with all our taxes/fees.  I am concerned after reading some posts here that if I select a 4 star hotel option then it's highly likely that I would get stuck with a hotel off of the main strip.  I also think it's likely that we could also get stuck with the SLS and it doesn't appear to have the best reviews/customer service.

I thought about trying priceline and selecting 4.5* and above hotels as it seems that we might have a better chance of staying on the strip.

Questions:

What would be your advice on choosing a * rating in Vegas?  Is it still a potential issue to get a hotel off the main strip?

What other tips can you give on selecting a hotel in this area, along with bidding recommendations?

Is there a place online that I can go to find all of the hotels in the area with star rating that is up to date?

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Like dahammer noted, it's a big event in Las Vegas and with current rates are you looking at a 3* (tops) with your budget.

And if you decide to go with PRICELINE is there no way to target or avoid a specific hotel. You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select.

If you're trying to target a specific property then HOT.WIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOT.WIRE usually costs a little more than PRICE.LINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.

Please read this link: I've never used Priceline or Hotwire

Let us know your thoughts about your budget and if you want to go with HOTWIRE or PRICELINE. You also have the option to go with PRICELINE EXPRESS, it's similar to HOTWIRE.

Please read this link for all reported hotels to the board: Las Vegas Hotwire and Priceline Hotels

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

Hi,

thanks for your message and explaining!  I realized last night the reason we were not able to find a reasonably priced room was because of the fight.  Go figure I would pick that time to fly out.  My daughter actually lives there so we are going to stay with her on Saturday and then stay on the strip 5/3-5/5 which will be much cheaper.  I was looking at Hotwire options and am finding it hard to identify which hotel by amenities when comparing to the list provided.  Maybe you can help me... At this point would like to stay under $150 with all fees per night (4* or higher).  I would prefer to be near the center of the strip or not at the very end (SLS is not appealing to me at all).

I can book through Treasure Island for a price near that range -- however, after reading reviews I am wondering if that is a bad idea.  I am reading how smokey the rooms are and that worries me (we are non smokers and I am sensitive to the smoke).

Thanks!
