gumball187 Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Hi everyone, great site... very helpful in the past!I'm looking to stay in jersey city for 1-27 to 1-29. Preferrably one of the three star establishments (Hyatt or Doubletree from what i understand). Any tips? At this point, $80/nite i would say is my max, but obviously i want to pay as little as possible. Thanks in advance.
dahammer Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 using Hotwire, you could very likely get the Hyatt for $85 per night as they are showing a 4* with all the Hyatt amenities for your dates of travel. That said, you could possibly win this (or the other 3* Doubletree) on Priceline for a lower bid of $65. At the 3* level, you also have one rebid opportunity in the Elizabeth zone. Good Luck!
thereuare Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 There is now one re-bid zone available when bidding 3* in this area. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zone with the board before proceeding. This is what i would do:Select 3* Jersey City....Bid $47, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55.If the above is rejected wait 72 hours and re-try as follows:Select 3* Jersey City....Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $71.Of course if you really want the Hyatt (which is usually prefered over the Doubletree) you can look at the Hotwire offer mentioned above.Any questions feel free to ask and keep us updated as to your progress.Good Luck. gumball187 Posted January 5, 2006 Author Report Posted January 5, 2006 Thank you for the advice, although the Hyatt would be more desirable, budget is key. I'll try priceline and keep you posted.
gumball187 Posted January 5, 2006 Author Report Posted January 5, 2006 No dice with the $47 or $55 bids, i will wait 72 hrs.
gumball187 Posted January 6, 2006 Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 Just an update, I ended up doing the hotwire offer and obtained the Hyatt on the Hudson. Thanks again for your help
thereuare Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Glad you got it sorted out.Enjoy your stay... i like this hotel a LOT!Can you please add the amenities shown before your purchase just for' the record'. gumball187 Posted January 8, 2006 Author Report Posted January 8, 2006 The Amenities are: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access & Business Center. Thanks for all the help. Know of any place nearby that has good breakfast?
thereuare Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 I've never had breakfast here (only lunch/dinner) but it's the type of place that you can just tell probably serves a great breakfast... and cheap. Service isn't too good, but if you're solo you can also sit at the counter if you'd like (no problem taking up a table by yourself either). If you speak spanish it will help too :)La Conguita: corner of Grove St and Bay St (walk to the Grove St PATH station and make a right, 2 blocks down the street on the left.... 351 Grove St) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
