Jainy Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 I am new so just tell me if I am doing something wrong! I am looking for a trip to Vegas from Boston or Providence between July 1st and the 15th. 5 days is about right. I would like to stay on the strip for about 50-60 dollars a night. I am not opposed to the Stardust or Circus Circus :) Should I try using Priceline for my airfare? Would I end up with a flight that leaves here late and arrives in Vegas at 11p.m. that just wastes a whole day of my vacation? Should I add on an extra day so that I get at least 5 days to my trip? Should I even bother with it? I have noticed that a few airlines like Southwest and some hotels are not even booking out this far. Is there a better time to start looking? Thank you in advance!
thereuare Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding! With Priceline you could get a late depature and an early return, thus cutting short your vacation time. Hotwire does give you 'time windows' which helps a bit in getting good flight times. However, often the savings aren't worth it (especially since you're agreeing to the possibility of a non-stop flight). What are the savings of the Hotwire price vs. prices in our Airfare Checker?I also think that you can usually do better booking air and hotel a la carte and not part of a package. ufauxreal Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 I've had really good luck recently booking air on EasyClickTravel (use the links on the top of this page). I just booked RT to Las Vegas from CT for $229, and you see the airline and departure times before you book.JB
Jainy Posted January 5, 2006 Author Report Posted January 5, 2006 I checked all possibilities between the 1st and the 15th you know like 1-6, 2-7, 3-8, and so on. Every flight was $264 and a late flight both ways. Except for 9-14 and that one was $270 late leaving and early coming home.I suppose I just need to keep looking. Is there a general rule about when to look? I want to get it done as soon as I can, but I am just frustrating myself with numbers. :)
thereuare Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 What do you expect airfare from the East Coast to cost? What have you paid in the past for this route? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Jainy Posted January 5, 2006 Author Report Posted January 5, 2006 I paid around the same price last time. I was just wondering if there is a better time to purchase travel? say 3 months before the trip? Is there any general rule that says this is about when you can get the best deal? For Instance, Southwest is only booking up to June 9th right now. They have a roundtrip for about $146 pre tax to Vegas... Is there any way of knowing when they will be booking into July? Sorry if I am asking too many questions. I am just thinking too much I am sure. Thank you for putting up with all of them! :)
thereuare Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 I'm sure Southwest operates on a rolling schedule (mabye 6 months?), so just wait until they release their fares as they're usually the low cost supplier in a given area. dahammer Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I would definately sign up at Southwest Airlines' website to be notified of specials, as they operate out of Providence, Hartford, and Manchester NH. Just last week they had a $79 rate to Vegas from Philly :) ; this week, its $129. :)
