bob666 Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 4* London Hilton MetropoleI was successful in booking the above hotel through priceline for GBP38 ($68).Bidding:Bid GBP30 Mayfair/Soho rejected offered hotel for GBP51Bid GBP35 Added London BridgeBid GBP38 Added Notting Hill - won HiltonI was surprised as I thought there were no 4* hotels in Notting Hill area & previously the Hilton Kennington has fallen with Kensington area. However, I'm happy with the price.
thereuare Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 Notting Hill not only has 4* properties, but 5* as well.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bob666 Posted December 22, 2005 Author Report Posted December 22, 2005 Thanks - I'll know better now when bidding for hotels in London.I wouldn't recommend the Hilton Kennington as a central London location (its nearer Shepherd's Bush than Notting Hill) but I suppose that's why I got a good rate!
WillTravel Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 I'm confused. Did you get the Hilton Metropole or the Hilton Kensington on this bid?
blindman Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Notting Hill not only has 4* properties, but 5* as well.I don't think so :) Only has 4*
thereuare Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 I stand corrected... must have had another zone marked when i checked the other day. Thanks for the correction. :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
bob666 Posted December 30, 2005 Author Report Posted December 30, 2005 to Willtravel,It was the Hilton Kensington. The hotel was great as I was upgraded due to being a gold member of Hilton honours. The location was no issue to us as we had a car. However, if you're expecting a central london location - this is not the hotel for you. But if you're Ok with using the tube (Holland Park on the Central line), this might be a good low budget choice.
thereuare Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 This property does appear to be just inside the western edge of the Notting Hill-Bayswater zone, but can somebody who knows the area better confirm, as this hotel was previous reported in the Kensington zone. Thanks! bob666 Posted January 13, 2006 Author Report Posted January 13, 2006 Its definately in Notting Hill - Bayswater area (its nearer to Shepherds Bush than Notting Hill) as I won the hotel when adding the above area thinking that there were only 3* hotels in that area as per pinned hotel list!
thereuare Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 ...as per pinned hotel list! So i assume that you have since read the comments at the top of the hotel lists which advise not using the hotel lists to determine re-bid zones and provides a link for the proper way to check?
