Priceline Hotel: hotels in Venice?

I am looking for some hotel suggestions in Venice, near the Rialto Bridge, for a trip I am thinking of taking in August.

First look at the zones of how Priceline splits up the Venice region.

Are any of the zones small enough that you would be happy staying anywhere within the shaded boundary? What star rating are you seeking and what is your maximum bid?

I don't think any Venice hotel that's been reported has been really near the Rialto bridge. At least one is right by the train station. I think that if you are on Venice Island, the actual location doesn't matter too much, because there's so much to see everywhere and it's a pleasant walk or vaporetto ride.

I'd only bid on the Venice Island zone, though. Other zone choices put you outside the historic city of Venice, and require extra transport either by train or boat to get to Venice. Most likely I wouldn't even try Priceline, because this is one city where you might want to choose your exact hotel.
