I want to book a 4* for two nights August 26 and 27th, but I would like to avoid Portola and the Hyatt.  Is there any way to improve my chances of getting what I want?  Thanks for your help!

I would be happy if I were able to get the Intercontinental or the Monterey Plaza for under 200/nt.

I can't exclude the W Hollywood from the property above, but HOTWIRE has a 4.5 hotel in this zone within your budget at $188/nite with:

That would work great but I could not get that price. The price Hot wire shows me for the 4.5 star is $224.
