kozygin Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Hi, I'm about to book a one week stay in NYC. We are 2 adults and 2 teenagers, 13,15 years old. I'm very interested in the 3,5 stars on Hotwire at the moment in Times Square, Theatre District and I want to find out what Hotel it is! We are going to stay between 24-31 december and we want to stay at a good hotel when its a one week stay. Amenities are:Free InternetSmoke Free RoomsFitness CenterBusiness CenterInternet accessAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibility Any suggestions ? Or do any of you have suggestions of an Hotel somewhere on Manhattan, we are going to NYC for the first time. We would like to pay below 200, or just over dollars per night and Hotwire will hopefully help us out :-) BR Jimmy
AaronJB Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 This would likely be the Row NYC. I think the issue with this stay is that you are going during a period that is reasonably slow as NYC goes (12/24-28/29 or so) and a period where traffic really ramps up (12/29-31, right before NYE.) The other thought is that the Times Square area is the busiest and usually most expensive area of the city. This is the most widely known area, but other areas are convenient, usually offer better value and have appealing aspects of their own. If you split the stay, you may lower the per night average. I'm seeing the listing you mention above for around $255 when I search for 2 adults/2 children. When I search for 12/24-29, I'm seeing: 4* MTE $230: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly. This would likely be the Doubletree Metropolitan. 12/29-31:3.5* ESB: Restaurant, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Pet Friendly. $215. This hasn't been ID'd/reported to the board, but the Radisson Martinique would be a maybe. Note that if you search for 4 people, you're going to see higher prices on Hot.wire, given that most rooms in NYC are small and quad occupancy results in notably higher costs. kozygin Posted August 12, 2014 Author Report Posted August 12, 2014 What area can you recommend? I think we want to stay at the same Hotel for the whole week. Do you mean its better for me to search for a stay for 2 people? But how do we do then when we are 4?:-) We would like to stay on Manhattan but what area is not really very important, but a nice hotel would be nice....if I get more for the money outside Times Square...what do you recommend? I can book something very soon. BR Jimmy
AaronJB Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 It's best that you search for 4 people if you are 4. I'm just noting not to be surprised if you notice a jump in prices (moreso than some other major cities) if you search for 4 vs 2. I like Midtown East, Midtown Central, ESB - MSG/Convention is also fine. Please keep us updated with what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. kozygin Posted August 12, 2014 Author Report Posted August 12, 2014 I Tried the Midtown East area and found a 3 star option with quite acceptable price, what can this be?:4persons, 24-31/12 Free InternetPet friendlySmoke Free RoomsFitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterSelf service laundryInternet accessAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deafAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityAccessible bathroomRoll-in shower We are really glad for all you help :-) BR Jimmy
AaronJB Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. It may be something else, but a guess would be the Roger Smith, with a different amenity set than previously reported to the board. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
kozygin Posted August 12, 2014 Author Report Posted August 12, 2014 And another one, in ESB area. 3,5 stars. Can this be King And Grove New York? AaronJB Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 3.5* ESB - not yet ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess the King and Grove would be a possibility.4* MSG - likely Wyndham New Yorker. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
kozygin Posted August 12, 2014 Author Report Posted August 12, 2014 Is any of the mentioned something you can recommend?
AaronJB Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Ultimately, you have to make the final decision on hotel, as some hotels are not going to be everyone's cup-of-tea and you have to decide what hotel best meets your needs. The ESB hotel mentioned above is more of an unknown (it may be the hotel mentioned above), but out of the two more sure options mentioned above, you have two fine options that are in very different locations. The Wyndham New Yorker is a massive property (one of the largest in the city) that was recently taken over by Wyndham. Reviews have improved somewhat since it was taken over by Wyndham and it is in a great location, but with the size of the hotel, I wouldn't expect personalized service at all. With the Roger Smith, you get a property in a great MTE location and a much smaller hotel. You can also find reviews of both on tripadvisor.com to help make your decision. Please keep us updated on what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted August 13, 2014 Report Posted August 13, 2014 As it appears the current thinking is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, we will use this thread for the second leg of your trip and use your other NYC hotel thread for the first leg of your trip. If you ultimately decide to stay in only one hotel we will them merge the two threads. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kozygin Posted August 14, 2014 Author Report Posted August 14, 2014 I found this 3,5star hotel in ESB area between 27-31 dec: What can it be? (My first guess was King and Grove....but not sure as the Amenities didn't suit that well when I compared)295 dollars/night (4 persons) Free InternetBusiness CenterSelf service laundryInternet accessAccessible for the deafAccessible path of travelHandicapped parking BR Jimmy
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but gets an excellent 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating, according to the rating showing on the detail page. Are you looking for something in particular in terms of hotel? Please keep us updated with what you decide and if you have additional questions. kozygin Posted August 14, 2014 Author Report Posted August 14, 2014 Not really looking for something perticular.....but as good standard as possible for a decent price. In the areas, TS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG or ME. Do you recommend something?
thereuare Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 Not really looking for something perticular... Do you recommend something? Why not what was guessed to be the Wyndham Garden in your other NYC Priceline Express thread? What is 'missing' from this offer, or any of the others above, that you're looking for something different? If you let us know what about these offers aren't appealing we may be able to find something different which better meets your needs, but without knowing what about the previous listings you don't like, it's hard to know what we should be looking for.
