Priceline has renamed their 5* to 4* Superior. Bid up to $160 before getting this at $170. Offered one counter of $186.

Very happy with the price... lowest elsewhere was $310.

I think this has been done because officially, according to government ratings, there are no 5* hotels in France. The top rating, even for the Ritz, is 4* Superior.

This was formerly an Intercontinental.

Yepp, looks like that.. e.g. for Bangkok there are still 5 star hotels and no 4 star superior..

I saw it was listed as a "ordinary" 4star for Paris now (also in the hotel list) - maybe you should better list it as 4* Superior in the hotel list too, thereuare, otherwise it might mislead people (in terms of making them believe that they could get this hotel by bidding for "ordinary 4star" in Paris).

I guess i didn't fully understand the true implications of the above discussion, but i just looked and saw the 4* Superior and 4* Superior Plus designations... :)

They should be simplifying the process for the average user... not making it more difficult.

Now that i'm up to speed i'll make the change in the hotel list... i assume it's likely that the previously 5* Hotel Scribe is now a 4* Superior Plus as well?

I assume ALL former Priceline-5-star-hotels in France are now "4star superior PLUS" Priceline-hotels (so it's just a renaming - and I think WillTravel is absolutely right, there are no 5 star hotels officially in France, that's probably why).
