mdefusco Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I want to bid on a 5* on the strip north or strip south. When I go through the process and select zone 7 and 8 is there any guarantee to avoid Trump or Vdara? Would prefer Venetian, or Aria. When I go to preview offer the minimum guarantee does not have a casino listed so I am afraid I'll get Trump. Is there any way to avoid Trump on a bid process?
AaronJB Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Welcome to Betterbidding. :) Up until a couple of days ago, the Trump was separated into its own zone, Strip North Vicinity. Now there is a chance of getting Trump if you bid Strip North. If you bid Strip South, you can get Vdara. In general, if you bid for a particular zone and star rating, you have to be willing to stay at ANY of the properties in those zone/s at that star rating. If you want to avoid a hotel without casino, I'd suggest looking at PRICELINE EXPRESS listings or HOTWIRE listings for a listing with casino. Please keep us updated. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
hinsdale Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I am also finding this new development very frustrating and hope others will share if they have come up with any workaround. I had always just bid for North Strip hotels knowing i would get Wynn, Venetian or Palazzo. Now that they can stick u with Trump is a game changer. If I bid $130 a night for a 6 day stay instead of getting a decent price for one of three premiere hotels with casinos - now could wind up paying significantly more than the going off-the-street rate and wind up slightly off the strip in a hotel (albiet nice) lacking casino or vegas vibe? All suggestions as to tips and tricks to ensure getting a North Strip hotel with casino using Priceline bidding would be welcomed!!
AaronJB Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Now that the Trump has been rezoned to Strip North, there is no way to avoid it. If you try to bid higher to avoid a particular property, you could absolutely overpay and wind up with the property you were trying to avoid anyways. As noted above, HOTWIRE or PRICELINE Express are primary choices now if you are trying to avoid the Trump. guru533 Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 I fell into this a couple of days ago, very frustrating. Did not notice that North Vicinity was no longer an option. Bidded $150 and got the Trump (bidded up to $165 the night before, so they must have just changed it). Considering it was going for $125 on their regular site, not very happy with my "win". Got them to match the $125, but am a very unhappy customer. Probably just going to avoid bidding from now on.
thereuare Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 Bidded $150 and got the Trump...Thanks for your post. Can you please add your win to the board as a NEW TOPIC so that others will be aware of your win when searching the topic titles on the board and in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and Priceline Maps. In your post please include the star rating, city, zone, hotel name, room rate per nite, and dates of your stay... you can still view all of this information by going to PRICELINE and clicking the MY PROFILE >> MY TRIPS link near the top right of their home page. Please also remember to follow-up your threads with your wins/decisions as you receive them as as this helps keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone, and is a courtesy to anyone who took the time to help with your trip. hinsdale Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 WOW!... that's a horror story alright. THIS POST SHOULD BE HIGHLIGHTED OR PINNED. I thought it was possible but didn't think they would actually take $150 a night for Trump? Well that confirms that unless you want the Trump you should definitely NOT be bidding in the Priceline North Strip vicinity. So frustrating that the bidding option is no longer available for Wynn, Palazzo, Venetian.
mediocrity Posted June 25, 2014 Report Posted June 25, 2014 Sorry as this might be a little of topic but be aware that the south zone now includes The Cromwell.
AaronJB Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 Sorry as this might be a little of topic but be aware that the south zone now includes The Cromwell. Did you win the Cromwell via bidding? If so, it would be greatly appreciated if you could post the details of the win as a separate thread - thanks. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Romelle Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 ... the south zone now includes The Cromwell. It is currently a 4.5* on the retail side of PRICELINE, so a 5* bidder presumably would never win it. But I see in the Priceline Hotel List it has been previously reported as a 5* win. Romelle
thereuare Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 It is currently a 4.5* on the retail side of PRICELINEWe have updated the Priceline Hotel List with the new star rating.
