delv Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 I need a room for 2 nights for Friday and Saturday 12/9-12/10. Anywhere in NYC/Manhattan is fine. Prefer 3* and above. I bid up to $300, which seems ridiculous as Holiday Inn is listing a price of $315. Anyway, I got NOTHING even going up to $300. Should I just bite the bullet and book the Holiday Inn @ $315 or any tips on getting a "nicer" hotel for less. Thanks.
Sciamano Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 If the Holiday Inn rate is cancellable, book it. Then bid with priceline, and see if you get a better hotel for less... You still have a lot of time..
aglinka Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 I'm haing difficulty with NYC also. I've bid **** all zones $150 a night and no hits whatsoever on 12/19-12/21. I'm now going down to 3*.
delv Posted November 20, 2005 Author Report Posted November 20, 2005 The Holiday Inn rate is non-cancellable, so I'm not going to reserve that one. However, I did find a room at the Crowne Plaza La Guardia for $218 that *IS* cancellable up until 6pm on day of arrival. I went ahead and booked that one. I'm not crazy about staying so far out of the city but it's a back-up at least. They told me a cab ride into the city is $45. Is that really for a cab or is that for some kind of limo service??Any other tips on getting a Priceline room in NYC for 12/9-12/11 (2 nights, 1 room, 2 adults)? Prefer not to go any higher than $250 per night. Thanks.
thereuare Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 This site is an affiliate of the Crowne Plaza as well as most other major hotel brands, we would appreciate you using our links for your hotel-direct reservations. You can see the complete list of affiliate links in our SUPPORT PAGE which is also found on the top of every page of this board.LGA is indeed a bit "out of the way" from Manhattan and a taxi will cost you $40-$45 (each way!)I would think that Jersey City would be a much better option than LGA... how are you arriving to the area? (car, plane... which airport?) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
delv Posted November 22, 2005 Author Report Posted November 22, 2005 I'm ok with using the links here to book travel. I'm a "newbie" so do I use the Hotel Checker link above? Also, is the reservation cancellable (sorry for being so dense)? At the rate of $45 each way for taxi travel to/from NYC to La Guardia ... ouch....I might just go ahead and book the Holiday Inn non-cancellable rate of $315. I'm glad we have the Crowne Plaza at La Guardia - just wish it was the one in town....We're flying into La Guardia from SFO, which is why I thought "ok, let's go with a hotel at La Guardia." Thanks in advance for any advice.
