FrazierGA Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 I began with your Priceline.com link, For several days I have bid on a 4-star hotel in Aruba, starting at $95. Since there is only one zone in Aruba, there are no rebid zones. However, I noticed that no 3.5-star hotels were listed in your list of hotels won, so I decided to take a chance and add a 3.5-star level each day. That way, I could get a second bid in each day. I realized that I was taking a chance but was willing to do that. My first bid today of $125 for a 4-star hotel was rejected, but I was told that I could rebid immediately if I increased my bid by $21. I declined but added the 3.5-star level and increased my bid to $130. That bid was accepted (my 3.5-star bid having been ungraded to 4-star). I was really hoping to get the Marriott, since that is what several other bidders had gotten recently. However, i am not too disappointed in getting the Renaissance. The rate on the hotel's website is $206/night.
AaronJB Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 Congrats on your success. :) Nice deal for this property and glad you are satisfied with the win. If selecting 3.5*, you do risk getting a 3.5*. The hotel lists only include what has been reported to the board - if you can select a zone and star rating, you can potentially win a hotel there.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
