jasperlui Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 I will be stopping over in New York for one day and wanted a 4* hotel near the Times Square area for around a $160cdn. I've used the PRICELINE link provided on the board but was unsucessful. I've seen people win the Hyatt in TS for $115-$150, but I've actually bidded up to $170 CDN for TS, MDE, MDW, and MSG areas and it was still denied. Is this high season or something? Any strategies in bidding or is it just really expensive during this time? If i lower to a 3.5* and bid $150, would that work? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 Please provide a follow-up for your prior Miami Priceline thread (post what you decided for that stay within that thread, then reply to this thread and we would be happy to take a look at the above dates.) Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jasperlui Posted May 12, 2014 Author Report Posted May 12, 2014 I've posted in my Miami thread, thanks. I also see on HOT.WIRE that a 4* hotel is available in midtown east for 178cdn, which comes out to be $233 with taxes and conversion.... that's more than what I want to pay, any chance PRICE.LINE will have a cheaper rate coming up in the next couple weeks?
jasperlui Posted May 13, 2014 Author Report Posted May 13, 2014 I just tried bidding for a 3.5* hotel in the ts, mdw, mde, cps, and MSG area, all got denied at $155, seems like a very difficult time to get a reasonable rate.. What to do? Thx Priceline.express has a 4* hotel available in mde, for 188 plus taxes, pet friendly, business centre, restaurants, and gym... Is this the option to go for? Any idea which hotel this might be? The
thereuare Posted May 13, 2014 Report Posted May 13, 2014 Please post all rates to the board in US Dollars so it makes it easier to compare offers thru the different services. Nobody can say if rates will come down, or head even higher, between now and your stay. My guess for the PRICELINE EXPRESS property would be the Intercontinental The Barclay. If you're trying to stay within budget you could consider Downtown where you could currently succeed for less than $150/nite... it's less convenient than a midtown hotel, but certainly do-able (especially at the right price). If you do decide to wait use our new companion site RateDrop to sign up to be alerted any time there is a hotel offered in your desired star rating and zones for less than $150/nite. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. jasperlui Posted May 13, 2014 Author Report Posted May 13, 2014 There's a 4* hotel being offered on HOTWIRE for $170usd fitness center, restaurant, business center, internet access and 90% recommended, any idea what this might be? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted May 13, 2014 Report Posted May 13, 2014 Please confirm which zone the listing is in - thanks. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jasperlui Posted May 13, 2014 Author Report Posted May 13, 2014 Oops, can't believe I forgot that lolMidtown East, price is now 163Fitness, restaurant, business centre, and Internet access70 percent recommended
thereuare Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 I'm not sure if you're seeing the same hotel or not as the previous one was 90% recommended and this one is 70% recommended. These amenities are common for NYC and multiple properties have been seen with this amenity set, but my guess for the one you're currently seeing would be the W New York. jasperlui Posted May 27, 2014 Author Report Posted May 27, 2014 I'm still in the search for a hotel for the same dates, i wanted to wait a bit hoping the price would drop but it doesn't look like it will, definitely looks like high season during this team. I found a decent deal on HOTWIRE for a 4.5 star, any idea what hotel? 4.5star $181 USD midtown east 90% recommended on HOT.WIRE and 4.5/5 on Trip Advisor amenities from BiddingHelper.com are: FULL AMENITIES: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom I figure since this one is a 4.5 star hotel and I'll have to pay close to 230 anyways for a 4/4.5 in the popular areas, might as well get a nice place for 4.5 star!
thereuare Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 The New York Palace would be my best guess for this 4.5* MTE property. jasperlui Posted May 28, 2014 Author Report Posted May 28, 2014 I used the HOTWIRE link for the 4.5 star above and got the new york palace! i'm quite happy with the choice as it's a great hotel and all the rates seems to have increased for 4 stars, so getting this 4.5 is pretty good considering the prices are fairly similar.
yellowdog Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Congratulations on your success! Thanks for using the HOTWIRE links on the board. We hope you're satisfied with the outcome and will like the hotel. Enjoy your stay. Yellowdog.
