Priceline Hotel: New User - Northern New Jersey

I have not used Hotwire or Priceline before.

I was looking for 3 rooms for my family at a hotel in Northern New Jeresy over Thanksgiving - in Wednesday - out Friday.

From looking at hotels in general, it seemed like the Pearl River Hilton or the Woodcliff Lake Hilton wouldf work well - as they both have indoor pools and grounds for the kidds to ruin around on. We live in NYC and have a car.

Are these hotels available? how do I figure out which hotel in a blind listitng to bid for? Are there any special things I should know in how to bid. The hotels are showing on their web sites as available at 107 / 129 night.

Thanks in advance.

Welcoeme to BetterBidding!

With both Priceline and Hotwire, you can not choose the specific hotel you will receive, so there is not way of knowing if you will get either of the above hotels (for certain)... you have to be willing to accept any hotel at that given star level in the zone(s) that you select.

Hotwire offers an advantage for your specific situation as they at least tell you the amenties the hotel has (but does not designate the difference between an indoor/outdoor pool). You can often decipher the actual hotel that you will receive by matching up the star rating and the amenities that appear in our HOTWIRE HOTEL LIST (but there are never any guarantees).

Not sure how flexible you are with the above criteria if you are able/willing to accept the possibility of receiving a hotel that may not have a heated pool.

If your needs are flexible let us know and we can advise how to best move forward. If you end up booking one of the Hilton properties above please use our HILTON link to begin your purchase.

Let us know whatever you decide to do and/or how we can be of further help.

Not really flexible on the pool as it is for the kids. Might be OK at the Sheraton Crossroads if they have some grounds to run around on

The descriptiions of the properties are below - Does these mean that if I ask for 3.5 stars in Newark (North Bergen County - Rockland County) [is that the proper choice of area?] and it says High Speed internet and tennis (they showed as strikeouts) that it is highly probable that it is the Sheraton Crossroads and that if it is missing those items, it could be either of the hotels.

Newark (North Bergen County - Rockland County)

3.5* Hilton Pearl River

Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business

(same as Sheraton Crossroads)

3.5* Sheraton Crossroads

Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, High-speed Internet, Tennis, Business, Laundry

**most recently seen with all amenities above (including the ones struck out)**

(without the above amenties the same as Hilton Pearl River)

The Woodcliff Lake Hilton doesn't seem to be listed.

With respect to using your link - was that if I chose to just make a regular reservation?

Thanks again.

You want the amenities to match exactly, so do your search and see if what is shown matches anything in the Hotel lists.

Regarding the Sheraton Crossroads, this hotel has been seen with both the full list of amenities (including the ones crossed off) as well as just the amenities that are not crossed off.... last report is with the complete set of amenities shown. If you see a hotel listed with that complete set of amenities, no more and no less, then "yes", it is highly likely that it is the Sheraton (but still no guarantees).

As the list suggests, if you see a hotel with only the four amenities listed, then there is no way to determine if it is the Hilton or the Sheraton (or some other hotel not yet reported/known) since they both look identical before purchase.

The Woodcliff Lake Hilton is not shown because it has not yet been reported via Hotwire (only on Priceline).

The Hilton Link was if you decided to book direct.

Let us know if the above answers your questions and how it goes or if we can be of further help.

PS- if you end up at the Sheraton there is a great pizza place less than 10 minutes away, Kinchley's Tavern... you can search the board or google for more info, or post back if you receive this hotel and i'll give you directions

I just stayed at the Sheraton Crossroads a month ago, here are the amenities:

Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, High-speed Internet Acces, Tennis Nearby, Business Center, Laundry Facilities.

This hotel is in a building that has offices on the lower floors, hotel rooms on the upper floors. The property is well maintained, didn't use the pool so I can't comment. Y

"The Woodcliff Lake Hilton is not shown because it has not yet been reported via Hotwire (only on Priceline)."

I saw a review on TripAdvisor from someone that said they had gotten Woodcliff Lake over the summer at $55/night.
