Priceline Hotel: Need Help Bidding 4* from 7/31 - 8/4 in Millenium Park - The Loop - Grant Park

Hi, it's been a while since I've used priceline bidding. I'm looking for assistance with a bidding strategy for a room close to Grant Park from Jul 31 - Aug 4. How many re-bid zones will I have? What is a good starting price for that zone/timeframe? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Please provide a follow-up for your prior NYC Priceline thread (post what you decided for that stay within that thread, then reply to this thread and we would be happy to take a look and try to offer suggestions on how to proceed.

 

Also, please read over this thread regarding re-bidding: re-bidding and try to confirm re-bid zones (it is best that you do so each time you bid, as things can change at any time.) 

 

Finally, please let us know your desired budget per night for this stay. This is an expensive period of the year because of the Lollapalooza Music Festival (8/1-3). Lollapalooza is also apparently sold out in terms of the three day passes and those coming for the concert will fill up the Loop hotels first, which are closer to the concert.

When bidding 4* in Chicago you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Loop...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Thanks. Can you confirm the five re-bid zones? I only see three: Airport Midway, Hyde Park, Skokie.

Try this:

1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'Chicago, IL' and your dates, and click "GO".

2) List each zone that is offered in this region.

3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.

4) post your findings and we'll take it from there

Ok, these are the zones I found. Can you confirm they are correct?

Yes, those are currently your correct re-bid zones at the 4* level... but always double check just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last looked.
