vman78 Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 This is my first time on this forum and first time using Priceline. I'm looking for a 4* in MTE, MTW, CPS or SoHo. I'm not sure what my maximum bid should be for that weekend. But I would be willing to go up to $190/night. I've heard good things about The W Hotel, and I would be happy to get something like that.

vman78 Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 Hi, I've read my messages and clicked the link. What do I need to do now?
thereuare Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Note that Soho is part of the larger "Downtown" zone on PRICELINE, so if you choose to bid in this area, you could end up anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone... there is no way to target just the Soho section of this zone. Would this be acceptable?Let us know and we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow based upon your zone choices. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. vman78 Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 Ok, I think just MTE, MTW and CPS would do. Also, my max price would be taxes/fees included. I would like to spend $200/night total. Thanks for your assistance.
thereuare Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* CPS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and MTW and CPS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. vman78 Posted March 15, 2011 Author Report Posted March 15, 2011 I've put my bidding attempts off until now. I'm wondering if the same price points still apply?
AaronJB Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 Looking at these dates on HOTWIRE, which appear expensive - but not as bad as most of the rest of the Spring season - I'd say the same starting point should still be fine.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
vman78 Posted March 16, 2011 Author Report Posted March 16, 2011 Ok, thanks. What would be my strategy to bid just on MTE? Also, you stated there are 5 re-bid zones, but I see 6... Brooklyn, Coney, Long Island, MSG, Queensborough, and UES.
thereuare Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 At the beginning of February there were only 5 re-bid zones, but a new zone has been added and there are now SIX re-bid zones... changing price points and re-bid zones is why we ask that you only ask for a bidding strategy once you're ready to bid :) (so we don't have to do the work and research twice)While i suspect the following will be too low, give the time before your stay, i would start with the following, using your SIX re-bid zones:Select 4* MTE...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. vman78 Posted March 21, 2011 Author Report Posted March 21, 2011 Not having much luck. Have been bidding every day up to $180 for MTE/MTW. May drop down to 3.5*. Can you recommend a strategy for that?
