vishals Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 Hi Looking for help on bidding for Prague. Am looking at:Checkin/Checkout dates: 11/12 to 11/15: (4 nights)Star Category: 5* ideally, otherwise a 4*Area: Dont know anything about Prague, but seems that either the East or the West should doPrice: ???I know that its an absolute off-season there starting 1st November, and even the publicly available rates come down drastically. So, what should be the price I should start the bid at, and what should be the bidding strategy? Kindly advise. Thx.
WillTravel Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 I think that people often bid for the 5* option to be assured of a central hotel. The 4* options are likely to be a tram ride away from the attractions. Is price or location more important?
vishals Posted October 29, 2005 Author Report Posted October 29, 2005 Between Price & Location, Price would be more important.
WillTravel Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 I would start for $60 for 4* East. See if you get a counteroffer. If you do, post back.Otherwise, start a completely new bid (close the browser before reaccessing Priceline - going through SavingsBarn.com will support the board) and bid $60 for 4* West. Similarly post if you get a counteroffer. If no counteroffer with either zone, start another bid and bid $70 for East and West combined.
vishals Posted November 5, 2005 Author Report Posted November 5, 2005 HiOn second thoughts I decided to pay higher and go straight after a 5*. I started off with Priceline HK since it does not have that 3-day wait, and went on till my bid of HKD 800 (~USD 103) was rejected. I switched to Priceline UK from there and after a few iterations I won a rate of GBP 56 per night (~USD99). The hotel I got was Mariott Prague East. I was in any case expecting this or maybe the Renaissance Prague. Thanks
