At current prices you're likely looking somewhere in the $170-$190 level... is this within your expected budget?

You could likely do a bit better if you consider other zones outside of Times Square but still generally considered to be well located (MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, MSG, ESB).

In 2010, I got the Club Quarter Finacial District for around $ 120 / night at the same time in May.

Budget would be max $ 150 / night.

The economy was still weak in 2010 and was still on very shaky ground as a result of the financial crisis of 2008. While the economy is certainly not hitting on all cylinders right now, business travel is up (along with hotel prices) and the hotel industry has rebounded since then (like the economy still hitting on all cylinders, but substantially better than it was doing in 2010).

As well, the hotel you won in 2010 was in the Financial District, which is generally less expensive then the Times Square zone you're looking to bid above.

With the above noted, there are some excellent deals available (even i'm a bit surprised at the price for this time of year) if you're willing to expand beyond the Times Square zone...

3.5* PRICELINE EXPRESS for $100/nite with

Restaurant

Business Center

Fitness Center

... while i'm not certain which hotel this one may be, and it won't be as convenient as Times Sqaure (some of the MTE properties can get a little far east and a 10 minute walk to the subway), i don't think you'll see anything else near this price and even though this one may not be perfect, it would still be do-able and a good value at this price, imo. (there was also a 3.5* hotel in the MTW zone for a similar price but when i clicked on it i got the message that it was no longer available... i can't predict the future but i suspect this one will likely disappear sooner rather than later as well)

Also, you can use the discount code and link in my signature for an additional 5% OFF PRICELINE EXPRESS hotels.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. If you still want to try bidding on PRICELINE, please confirm if Times Square the only zone you're willing to accept and if you want to first try for a 4* hotel and then, if rejected, try for a 3.5* (and if that too is rejected try for a 3*)??... or is the goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip?

EDIT TO ADD: looks like the PRICELINE EXPRESS property may be the Hotel Boutique at Grand Central (based upon this Priceline Express hotel deal, which if correct, would be an excellent location within the zone, imo (with just a 1 block walk to Grand Central)

Thank you for this info.

I just checked the Priceline.Express Deals, but just found offers starting $165 and up.

It's almost 2 days after the rate above was was posted and as i had guessed, the offer is now gone.

You can click the 'Follow This Topic' link near the top right of this page in order to be notified any time there is a reply, this will help ensure that you don't miss any deals that are posted.

Also, the PRICELINE EXPRESS rates you're now seeing is indicative of the currently stronger hotel market (vs. 2010) discussed above.

I had success with my bid of 135 $ and got "THE OUT NYC"

I am quite happy with this hotel. It is a Gay hotel, but who cares? Great location and short distance to Times Square, etc.

Rating @ Tripadvisor is 82 %.

I wrote an Email to the Hotel and asked for a quite room away from the Club. Got confirmation within one hour!

Congrats on your success. :)

Very reasonable rate for this property during the Spring. Glad you are pleased with the result and the hotel was quick to reply to a room request.
