Difficult to say for the 3.5* property... my top guess would be the Four Points Soho, but you can't rule out the Club Quarters World Trade, Club Quarters Downtown, or the Hilton Garden Inn as possibilities either (or there could still yet be others as well as these amenities are somewhat common for a 3.5* hotel in this area)

For the 3* property my guess would be the Holiday Inn Express Wall Street.

PS- please follow-up your previous Hotwire Cancun thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip. Thanks.

Hello -

For our Cancun trip we ended up buying out a friend's time share! Thank you for all the help with that trip though!

I think I'm going to roll the dice and do some bidding to see if I can get a 3.5* in the SoHo or Times SQ area. The financial district is a bit too far south for us...

Will be using your PRICELINE link and will report back with a win.

Nobody reading your previous thread will know to look here to see what you ultimately decided to do for that trip, which is why we ask that you conclude that thread... it helps keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone. Thanks.

If you'd like help with a suggested bidding strategy let us know your maximum bid at the 3.5* level and we'll advise accordingly.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Closed the Cancun thread. Thanks.

My max bid would be $120.

I am primarily interested in:

Chelsea

SoHo

Lower East Side

If its not possible to get a room in those areas within the $120 price range, I am okay with:

Hell's Kitchen

Times Square

Midtown West

Madison Square

Empire State area

Thank you!

To confirm, you want to first try for a 3.5* hotel in the Chelsea, Soho, or LES zones with a maximum bid of $120? If so, you can begin as follows:

Select 3.5* Chelsea...

Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Soho...

Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* LES...

Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Chelsea and Soho...

Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Chelsea and LES...

Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...

Select 3.5* Chelsea, Soho, LES...

Bid $120

Any questions feel free to ask. If the above is rejected, do you then want to try for a 3* hotel in these same three zones OR try for a 3.5* in your expanded list of acceptable zones?

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Realized that $120 was a no go for 3.5* and up.

Decided to start at $120 and work my way up. Eventually got this hotel at $160.

I'm happy with the price and location; the rate if you book directly w/ the hotel is $287.

Thanks.

bryanin82,

thanks so much for posting!

If you are still checking this thread AND you can remember what you did (approximately), could you let me know how you got this hotel?

It looks like it might be a good fit for my wife and my upcoming stay. It doesn't look particularly close to Greenwich Village, but it looks close to the subway and the reviews and amenities look beautiful.

Aaron or thereuare, could either of you advise a bidding strategy for landing this particular property?

I'd be okay if we landed in Chelsea too.  Dates are 3/8/14 to 3/12/14. The price bryanin82 would be fine. Should I just bid the same thing for the Soho-Tribeca zone?

For anyone following my search, I also have a Hotwire thread here.

Thank you!

You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.
