mariburr Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 I have always had huge success with priceline in Miami and FLL but huge disppointment this time. Have tried everything to make this situation better (called hotel, priceline etc, ) but nothing is imporving the siuation. Hopefully someone on forum can help. Bidded for 3 star in Miami airport area and got Doral Trump which is a 4 or 4 1/2 star at great bargain: $68. only to find out: under construction; reveiws are terrible; only 40% of people who have stayed there recently would recomment it PLUS $20. resort fee and the worse part: $50. shared shutttle ride to it from airport and another $60 - 65. taxi to port next day so total more than $200. to stay for one cheap night before a cruise.Read also cheapest breakfast was $29. Why does Priceline keep this hotel when reviews are so terible and hotel is under major construction (will be beautiful I'm sure when it's finished but is not, now.I thought by by bidding in Airport area; I would get a hotel fairly close to airport and port where taxis were reasonable but certainly not in this case.I often refer people to priceline but afraid to do it now plus I need a hotel close to airport after cruise for one night and afraid to bid again; in case I get Trump again.Any help or advice you can give me would certainly be appreicated. Very discouraged. Also I know after bidding, you can't back out but has anyone ever had any luck disputing it via credit card protection? Also, if you don't show up; are you still charged the $20. resort fee? I'm thinking it might be cheaper in long run to walk away and get another hotel for that night through hotwire where you know at least one shuttle from airport is included. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
Romelle Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 ....Any thoughts would be appreciated. ThanksLuggage is usually an issue when people are going on a cruise, but there is public transportation between MIA and your hotel. Takes a little over an hour and does involve a transfer, but it would be inexpensive. You'd have to negotiate this, but stranger things have happened. The nearby Holiday Inn Express does run shuttle service. Maybe you could ride with them for a reasonable fee?Romelle
