texashighway Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 I will be arriving at SFO on 8 Jan 2013 at 11am from China and have a 6 1/2 hour layover before my domestic flight. Is anyone aware of airport hotels that have special day rates? It would be nice to take a shower and a nap if I can find someplace reasonable and convenient. Should I just try to bid on a cheap Priceline room? The problem is that I would want to be able to check in by noon. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thereuare Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can try using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com to search within a small radius of the airport and then inquire with nearby hotels as to a day rate, but it is often cheaper to win a hotel via PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.What is the date of your stay and desired star rating and budget? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. texashighway Posted November 7, 2013 Author Report Posted November 7, 2013 My date is on Jan 8, 2013 from 12pm to around 4 pm. Since I just wanted a place to shower and have a little shut-eye between flights, just looking for something cheap which is nearby and has a shuttle. I will take your advice and inquire from some of the hotels directly. If I had to wait until 3 pm to check in, that wouldn't do me much good. If I can't something reasonable, I might just crash on a sofa or recliner in the SFO USO lounge. :)

BEAV Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 The website listed below sells the Westin SF Airport for $99.50 9am-7pm and Hyatt Regency SF Airport for $89.50 8am-6pm. http://www.bookadayroom.com/default.aspx
texashighway Posted December 11, 2013 Author Report Posted December 11, 2013 I emailed several airport hotels, most of which did not reply. Of the ones that did, most wanted to charge a regular nightly rate with no early check-in guaranteed or a day rate only $10 or $15 off the nightly rate. One even wanted to charge me for two nights! I settled on the Radisson Hotel SFO Bay Front in Brisbane. They agreed to give me a room to cover my layover hours for $60. That should work out fine for me!
